Greg Fahey enters his fourth season on Carmen Maciariello’s staff, and second as an assistant coach. Fahey spent his first two years as the director of basketball operations, before being promoted to assistant coach on Apr. 27, 2021. “Greg is a hungry, young assistant who will thrive as a cultivator of relationships,” said Maciariello upon Fahey’s promotion. “He brings energy and enthusiasm to our program daily.” In his first three seasons on staff, Siena has captured back-to-back MAAC Regular-Season Championships while achieving a 47-29 (.618) overall record. “I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity, and appreciate Coach Carm for believing in me,” remarked Fahey upon his promotion. “Siena is a special place, and I look forward to continuing to grow here.” A native of Randolph, New Jersey, Fahey arrived at Siena after spending the previous season as a graduate assistant at Providence College. Fahey brought three years of experience on collegiate staffs with him to Loudonville. In his one season at Providence, he served as a graduate assistant under head coach Ed Cooley for a Friars squad which advanced to the NIT. Fahey first entered the collegiate ranks as an assistant coach for two seasons at Division III FDU Florham, where he recruited a pair of future All-MAC Freedom Conference players. Fahey began his coaching career as the head junior varsity and assistant varsity coach for three years at St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark, NJ. He helped guide the Gray Bees to an 89-15 record, highlighted by a peak ranking of eighth nationally. St. Benedict’s Prep posted a 35-2 mark during the 2015-16 season to finish 12th nationally and earn a berth to the Dick’s High School National Tournament. Throughout his time both at FDU Florham and St. Benedict’s, Fahey also spent four seasons on the NIKE EYBL circuit with the Albany City Rocks. In his first three seasons, he served as an assistant coach before becoming the 16U EYBL head coach in his final year with the program. Fahey graduated from Marist College in 2013 with his degree in sports communications and a minor in psychology. He was a four-year manager for the Red Foxes’ men’s basketball program, working his way up to head manager his senior year. In the spring of 2022, Fahey also completed a masters degree from Providence College in Higher Education, also earning a certificate in Sports Administration.
