Fine dining at its best This Argentinian inspired restaurant is conveniently situated in the heart of Umhlanga. The restaurant displays a unique and upmarket look from the outside but once you step inside, it takes everything to the next level. The owners have outdone themselves with the careful detailing that can be found throughout the restaurant. Different days and times pull in different crowds and contribute to the different vibes. Irrespective of the time you choose to visit , you will certainly enjoy this vibrant Hot Spot. You may even be lucky enough to catch a surprise Tango dance in the restaurant! The friendly and well trained staff offer you the option to choose where you would like to be , whether its outside on the deck , high tables inside with beautiful views from the large windows or the low tables found in the middle of the restaurant and in their bar area facing the ocean. Needless to say, we chose to the high seats to get both the beautiful views outside and experience the exciting atmosphere in the restaurant! On arrival, you are offered a complimentary Sociales Malbec infused shooter. The great news is that Barbacoa has their very own Malbec made right here in South Africa (Stellenbosch) which is called SOCIALES. This wine is so good that the restaurant brings in 6000-8000 bottles during a typical harvest. Barbacoa has the most delicious cocktails. I am a definite coffee and chocolate lover so I went with one of their Barbacoa specialities that is made just for people like me. However For those that prefer something Icey and refreshing then the Frozen Margarita that looks almost unending is for you! Try out their signature cocktails that are a hit to the regulars, there is something for everyone. Barbacoa offers Alcohol infused and also non- alcohol versions as well.

Another Barbacoa signature is called ‘’Chimmi-Churri’’. You can find various dishes throughout the menu in which their ‘’Chimi-Churri’’ is used. All starters are portioned perfectly and no less brilliant than their mains. Their Barbacoa specialities have got to be tried! Just ask you waitron to pair the perfect meal together for you. Before our meals arrived, we were privileged to have had a VIP exclusive into their kitchens to see the magic happen. It is Definitely the hottest place to be ..They have an indoor custom made charcoal fire
station that guarantees the most succulent meat made with passion! The presentation of everything that comes out of their kitchen and even bar area is nothing less than spectacular. Barbacoa has a great menu with many different options for every taste bud and that includes veg options as well. Barbacoa pride themselves with their signature specially aged meat, if it isn’t up to standard then it is not good enough to be served. 28 Days is their perfect time period for ageing their meat. Medium rare or well done, it’s your choice. Just be prepared to taste one the finest selections of meat by far. Try one of their deserts that are made in-house like their brilliant crème brulee but If you don’t have time for dessert then don’t be surprised when you are offered an ice cream cone to-go. Barbacoa has their own little ice cream bar that you can visit on your way out. However if you don’t have a sweet tooth and prefer a snack then find out about their very own biltong bar and grab some on your way out. At Barbacoa, their love and passion is evident in each bite you take , each sip that goes down and in just looking around. The service we received was phenomenal and each meal was portioned well , elegantly presented and had a unique taste and texture. We Appreciate restaurants that take pride in each detail and you should too. I dare to say that ‘You have not lived until you’ve visited this place.
It’s our lifestyle Being the cool people that we are , we decided to share some light on tattoos. We personally believe that tattoos are extremely cool , but you should be extremely careful on what designs you choose and especially where you get tattooed at . Chatting to a few friends down @ Umhlanga we realised how dangerous it is to go to tattoo shops that are not in line with the medical and safety requirements . You need to understand that tattoos are not just something cool but its something that stay with you for life , choosing what design you want should be something you need to take a few days to think about .
In 2015 we saw a ton of spectacular tattoos. Incredible designs were unleashed into the tattoo world daily. It’s safe to say that the artists of today continue to defy the expectations of many . Ten years ago, many wouldn’t have looked at tattoos in the artistic light that we see it today , in Durban alone Tattoos have become a “cool” symbol and with business in this industry booming we see tons of tattoo shops around the area. There is no doubt that the tattoo artist in 2016 will continue to re-invent peoples minds by their artistic flair and for the love of taking the art further . We expect to see trends from 2015 carry over into 2016, as we see a lot of the hot trends of 2015 still rolling amongst the locals .

It’s the next Generation Welcome to the future
We had the privilege in joining Samsung (Umhlanga) for their launch of the new GEAR VR. Samsung really did a great job bringing in people , a full snack table and a smoothie bar made clients feel at home . Their sales team made people feel 100 percent sure that they were buying into a product that is the future . The curiosity of this new gadget brought in people of all ages to come and see what it is all about . With sample VR devices stationed at various spots in the store, everyone had the opportunity to try on this exciting new gadget and experience the one-of-a-kind features. Once you have the VR on, as you move your head all around , one thoroughly experiences the cutting edge technology that gives you the true feeling of being in an alternate reality! Thus the name VR (Virtual Reality) While we chatted to folks at Samsung we overheard a lot of people say that the VR is an extension of the google cardboard and we found out that, that’s not true the VR is filled with stuff like a microUSB dock in the Gear VR mount that offers some hardware assistance to the Gear VR when you're looking through those lenses. Additional sensors make head tracking noticeably smoother, which in turn decreases that motionbased disorientation you many feel when trying out smartphone-based VR for the first time. You'll also find a touchpad on the side of the Gear VR that offers a significantly greater number of control options for navigating .There's also a back button and a fine focus wheel to dial things in just right. The Gear VR only works with a handful of newer Samsung phones. Specifically, the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Note 5, and Galaxy S6 edge+ are the only phones that work with the new Gear VR. The added hardware for head tracking, the Oculus-provided software, and the physical casing to hold the phone and lock it into the microUSB port only work with those four phones. We are proud to say that we had the opportunity to be some of the very first people to experience their newly launched High Tea Room! Upon entrance we were greeted warmly by the staff as though they were old time friends we were then seated in their beautifully decorated Tea Room that tie elements from the beautiful Indian ocean with clean white linen, pastel colours and crystal. The smell of great coffee and a table full of treats for the sweet tooth accompanied by a delightful tower of savoury snacks is something new and exciting to look forward to when going for your next pamper.
We always appreciate the effort of going the extra mile and Mangwanani surely does that! Just when you think that they couldn’t surprise you further.. It gets even better. After enjoying the delicious selection of treats , We proceeded outside for our massages where the ocean breeze, soft music and beautiful scenery enhanced the experience of being pampered outside. You may choose the type of oils used for your massage whether its :Calming, Nurturing or Revitalising. One of the many reasons that I enjoy Mangwanani is that all their products are NATURAL and specially made for them . This is being pampered the healthy way.They also have their own store so you have the option to take some of the African magic home with you. Mangwanani Staff are trained in-house and taken well care of by the brand even when they are unwell. 6

After working as a UTE at schools and some encouragement from her husbands aunt Julie ,Shay decided to take the big leap into business .Being the busy body that she is , Shay was able to manage her business and be there for her 3 kids , “it takes skill ” . 4 years later in Umhlanga Shay is already looking at other ventures . A treasure Filled with a passion for food and surf ! This little hidden gem called Heidis Café is carefully tucked away just footsteps from the Ansteys beach on the Bluff in Durban. Heidis café is a comfortable breakfast spot . Simple meals with Heidi’s special touches make it a unique find. It is run and owned by Heidi herself, who is a passionate and professional surfer. Whilst sitting in the quaint and rustic decorated café, I was attracted to the little elements of surfing all around me from the bookshelf, VHS video, magazines. This café isn’t just another café but once you look around you notice that it is personal and combines all the elements that Heidi is passionate about. When one puts so much of themselves into anything that they are doing, it results in nothing short of a beautiful success. That is probably the reason why Heidi has such a good relationship with each person that walks through her doors. It’s not just good service but Heidi giving her personal best to experience her little heaven –on-earth. My personal favourites were the delicious smoothies and the freshly baked goodies made by Heidi herself. Unique smoothie combinations like peanut butter and banana or the green mamba with combinations like mint and spinach make this little café a hit with the regulars. A must try would be her freshly made baked treats. She’s always creating magic in her little kitchen so keep an eye out for the take-home treats like her latest home made chilli sauce or a slice of one of her deliciously made cakes or deserts! This little café is a symbol of her love for all things food! She makes breakfast so enjoyable and it is evident in her food and the service she delivers to every customer.

THE PHOENIX FORDcLUB
Ford , the first thing comes to mind when we think about that name is rear wheel drive fun . With phoenix more caught up with VW’s and Toyota’s we have a selected few who knows how to pick their cars , We caught up with the phoenix ford club last December down in a quiet Cornubia .The guys had a blast from some spinning to just chilling . Rayan (one of the founding members ) and the boys have come together for the love of old school fords . The club holds some breath taking old school beauties , with Leo’s escort making tracks we knew these guys just didn’t own these cars but they knew how to tune and drive these cars . With a sense of brotherhood and a welcoming nature this club is a great team to be a part of .Through their passion they have been supporting charities, with their main idea of the club is to bring ford lovers from the area together , I think they are doing a great job with the number of members growing , this club will soon rolling with the big car clubs. The club also donated R500 to the clarissa k little lady foundation a foundation that aims to eradicate teen pregnancy and a foundation we fully support .
