About

Working as an outlier artist in Los Angeles is as common as a cold and equally as punishing. However, there are a few artists whose works pierce the boundaries of mainstream culture and make us question conventional wisdom. These works are not always beautiful, but definitely memorable - especially those found in Ira Stein’s series GENETICS. - Tish Breda, Art Curator

Curator Review

Sisters 2

Ira’s evocative piece delves into the entanglements of the human condition. He does not mince reality in his exquisite expression. Authenticity and a dedication to fragility can be felt throughout his work. ‘Sisters 2’ captures these figures on the threshold of life. Stein’s subjects are the visual focal point here yet somehow, he guides the viewer to their internal turbulence and unease. In many ways this consummate painting feels like a landscape one must traverse through, to truly understand. -E.E. Jacks California United States of America
