Beer is a part of life here in McCall. From the bitter bite of an IPA to the warming flavors of a coffee porter and the refreshing taste of a light ale, you’re never far from a handcrafted brew made with locally sourced ingredients and served with no pretense. To get in the spirit of Oktoberfest, the traditional Bavarian beer-drinking festival dating back to the 1800s, we’re highlighting local brews and beer spots serving local drinks and food. We’ve also scoured the menus and sought out delicious porters with flavor profiles fit for the changing of the seasons. Taste our recommendations for yourself and let us know what you think.

MCCALL BREWING COMPANY 1.3 miles away | outdoor dining & take-out | mccallbrew.com Whether you’re in the mood for a flight of brews or delicious farm-to-table food, McCall Brewing Company is a classic local choice. Offering lunch and dinner menus as well as a sizeable beer list, this is a hotspot for locals and out-of-towners alike! Enjoy an end of summer meal on the outside deck or order for curbside pick-up! Our suggestion: Fish & Chips paired with a Say Whut Coconut Porter.

SALMON RIVER BREWERY 1.5 miles away | outdoor dining & take-out | salmonriverbrewery.com Looking to enjoy the end of the season outdoors with a cold craft beer in hand? You have choices at Salmon River Brewery. Choose from the patio Pub, or the rooftop Taphouse, and enjoy a brew with a view. Both outlets at this brewery offer easygoing menus filled with hearty favorites and out-of-this-world desserts. In case you’re wondering - yes, we’re talking about the Buzz Buzz Chocolate Cake, made with SRB’s famous Buzz Buzz Coffee Porter.

BROKEN HORN BREWING CO. 1.8 miles away | outdoor seating & curbside pick-up | brokenhornbrewing.com If you’re looking for a no-nonsense brewery, this is it. This Idaho gem can be found off the beaten path in McCall. Still, its location lends itself to a day of adventures. Go for an outdoorsy walk or plan a fishing trip at Riverfront Park, and when you get thirsty, Broken Horn Brewing Co. is just a half-mile away (Be sure to eat beforehand because this brewery does not serve food). Their taproom is decked out with all things Idaho – perfect for a game of “I spy” and the low-key outdoor seating creates the perfect ambiance for a drink without any fuss. We recommend the Pin-up Porter; it’s silky and soft and compliments the changing of the season!

THE BAR around the corner | indoor & outdoor seating | shorelodge.com/dining Interested in expanding your beer repertoire without ever leaving McCall? The Bar at Shore Lodge has the best in the west on tap and ready for you to enjoy.
