BrunnerViLLe Fire COMPanY

SERVICE AREA: Providing fire and rescue protection for approximately nine square miles and a population of nearly 4,700 residents. The majority of the fire district is in Warwick Township, while also serving portions of Elizabeth Township, Clay Township and Ephrata Township.

PERSONNEL: Approximately 25 active members, led by Fire Chief Lynn Mearig and President Jeffrey Garner. They also have a core group of individuals who volunteer as fire police officers, helping to direct traffic and control crowds at emergencies.

SERVICES PROVIDED: The Fire Company answers an average of 110 calls per year, along with providing mutual aid assistance to neighboring communities. In addition to providing emergency services, they also visit local schools during Fire Prevention Month and participate in other community events.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: The Brunnerville Fire Company holds a fund drive each year, mailing letters to every residence and business in the fire district asking for donations. They also have many community residents who volunteer their time to help at fundraising dinners including two take-out dinners per year, in April and October.

The Brunnerville Fire Company is a 100% volunteer organization.

SERVICE AREA: Schoeneck Fire Company serves the residents of West Cocalico Township as their “First Due” area and assists with calls in all the surrounding Townships and Boroughs.

PERSONNEL: 35 active members and 10 active fire police under the direction of Fire Chief Jeff Hackman

SERVICES PROVIDED: The Fire Company averages 125 emergency calls per year, which include fire, medical assist and community assistance requests. In addition to calls and weekly training nights, the members also participate in community events and Fire Prevention Week to spread the word about fire safety and encourage residents to join the Fire Company.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: The fire company holds many fundraisers throughout the year, including All-You-Can-Eat Breakfasts, Soup and Sub Sales, Chicken Meals, Gospel Singing Events, a Mud Sale and Quilt Auction. The many fundraisers are just one way the public can help to support the Schoeneck Fire Company. They are also always looking for new members interested in fighting fires or helping with fundraising events.

SERVICE AREA: Coverage area of West Earl Township and a small section of Earl Township

PERSONNEL: They have approximately 45 active members under the leadership of Chief Earl Good. Many members are trained as First Responders/EMTs, Hazmat Operations, vehicle rescue and have Firefighter 1 or Firefighter 2 certification.

SERVICES PROVIDED: Farmersville Fire Company responds to just over 200 calls per year. In addition to training and responding to calls, the department also hosts an annual Fire Safety Day with the schools in their first due response area.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: The fire company holds multiple fundraisers throughout the year, including a Mud Sale on the fourth Friday of every March, as well as spring and fall chicken BBQs. The Farmersville Fire Company Auxiliary operates a food truck at auctions, and also provides food to firefighters when they are responding to calls.

adaMstOWn Fire COMPanY

SERVICE AREA: Adamstown Fire Company proudly serves approximately 8 square miles, including Adamstown Borough as well as sections of both Brecknock and East Cocalico Townships. They also provide mutual aid support to several surrounding departments in Berks and Lancaster County.

PERSONNEL: 34 volunteers under the leadership of Fire Chief Derek Miller & President Stephen Dunn

SERVICES PROVIDED: The fire company averages around 200 calls for service each year. In addition to emergency services, the department participates in numerous community events throughout the year, as well as provides Fire Prevention education annually to the 400+ students at Adamstown Elementary during the month of October.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: In addition to their annual fund drive, the department holds Chicken BBQs over the summer months and Soup & Sub Sales over the winter months. Their annual Sportsman Raffle Ticket is currently available; winners will be drawn on February 25, 2023.

SERVICE AREA: About 3.9 square miles encompassing all of Akron Borough along with parts of Ephrata Township and West Earl Township

PERSONNEL: 45 individual firefighters respond to emergency calls. In addition, 15 active support members help in non-emergency functions of the department.

SERVICES PROVIDED: The department averages about 100 emergency calls per year, or one call about every 3 days. They also regularly provide mutual aid assistance to an area of about 14.5 square miles encompassing Ephrata Borough, Ephrata, West Earl and Warwick Townships. The fire company prides itself in its community involvement and can be found either hosting or participating in most all community-based events with Ephrata Area School District, the borough and townships they cover and local non-profits as well as the local business community.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: Community involvement is critical to the department. During the year you can find several fundraisers going on to support the fire company. The department also has an active auxiliary group which plans fundraisers, and other non-members who enjoy coming out to pitch in and be part of the community.
