The Bunkertown Men’s Chorus began singing in 1934 and the only original member of the group remaining is Thelma (Leister) Fogleman, who was the group’s pianist. Several current members have been singing for several decades, with the longest being Wayne Goodling, who has sung with the chorus for 65 years. Active members range in ages from 17 to 90 years old. The chorus sings at a variety of church functions and area retirement homes once each month, alternating locations. Their music range from traditional hymns, arranged for men’s voices, through songs born from the early twentieth Century quartet movement, to modern arrangements of church classics singing with both piano accompaniment and acapella. The group currently consists of 15 members from nine different church congregations and their mission is to share the Gospel through song.
