EVENTS Upcoming Events: Keep on the lookout for observance month events, career fairs plans to welcome the Class of 2026, and their families and membership events! Join NAMA today and become part of a team! Past Events: Our Women’s History Month speaker, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, New York’s 9th District, was empowering, energetic and insightful! Thank you for those that attended. We are still dealing from the success of the 2022 United States Naval Academy Alumni Leadership Forum on Diversity and Inclusion! We also officially recognized VADM D.C. Curtis ’76 (Ret.) and Ms. Janie Mines ’80 as distinguished graduates. NAMA also supported Ms. Mines’ luncheon with Women’s SIG and the Class of 1980. Lastly, we had the chance to interact with Midshipmen. NAMA partnered with the Naval Academy Foundation to establish the Naval Academy Minority Affairs Fund (NAMAF). Your donations support: on-campus visits for students and Centers of Influence, scholarship funding for STEM and NASS, Gospel Choir travel and Midshipman activities.

Run to Honor
Pres: David G. Paddock ’77 p: 757-373-0977; e:president@runtohonor.com Website: www.runtohonor.com
RTH is excited to share a couple recent acts in honor of our fallen alumni. On 18-20 March, several alumni, family, and friends participated in the 50th Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend. Among those that participated were Dave Paddock ’77, Jan Kennedy (sister of John Kennedy ’79) and her family, Devan and Mayra, Alexa Hunter ’04, Kelly Brown ’95, Derrick Dudash ’98, Chris Gronbech ’90, Shannon Webb ’04 and Jeff Webb ’95. RTH’s highlighted honoree was, LT Michael McGreevy ’97, who was one of 16 troops killed in Operation Red Wing 28 June 2005.

Family of John Kennedy ’79; Mayra, Devan and Jan Kennedy (L), Dave Paddock ’77 (M), Shannon Webb ’04 (L), and Alexa Hunter ’04 (L) run to honor at 50th Shamrock Marathon Weekend in Virginia Beach, VA.
A week prior on 11 March, past USNA 16th Company Centurions ran to honor a fellow Centurion LTJG William McIlvaine ’10. Will was lost on March 11, 2013, when his EA-6B went down in Washington state alongside LCDR Alan Patterson ’00 and LT Valerie Cappelaere Delaney ’09. Susan Scheid ’16 aboard DDG109, Benjamin Murphy ’14 in Pensacola, Ashley Gillard Nichelle ’14 near Mobile, Marley Casssels ’10 in D.C., Danielle Steele Beier ’10 with NAOC Ops Team 1 members at McDill AFB, Will Culp ’13, Matt Wilder ’10, Brian Gureck ’13 and Alvaro Rentas ’14, all “gathered” from around the world to run, keep the memory of Will alive, and show support to his family and friends left behind.
Additionally, in honor of Memorial Day RTH coordinated events across the U.S. for family, friends, and supporters to connect virtually and in-person. Memorial runs were organized in about 10 locations across the U.S. by volunteer USNA Chapters and local leads. RTH would like to give a special ’thank you’ for all that helped put events together continuing our mission to honor Naval Academy Alumni lost in combat or military operations in service to our Nation.
To Honor!

On 4 March 2022 the WSIG joined with the Puget Sound Chapter of USNA Alumni Association to start the celebration of Women’s History Month. Lt Andrea Howard ’15 moderated an inspiring interview of MIDN 1/C Lindsay Ellison ’22 (current Brigade Commander) and MIDN 2/C Faith Brooks ’23 (international studies abroad with the Portuguese Naval Academy first semester of this year). Both MIDN are leaders in the Sexual Harassment and Prevention Education (SHAPE) program and are leaders in the Brigade. It was extremely informative and reassuring that these young women are in leadership roles at USNA and in the fleet. You can replay the session by visiting the following link: https://www.youtube.com

It was a wonderful Pacific North West day on Whidbey Island. Lunch after at the Penn Cove Tap Room for beer tasting and lunch.”
