Folk Frenzy
A Klub Revolution 20th Anniversary Event…..
Our traditional summer school, Folk Frenzy, is back bigger and better for 2020! Folk Frenzy is a focussed and intimate event, with a ‘family vibe’, focussing on developing the musical relationship between the participants, tutors and instruments to provide a collaborative and inspiring experience for everyone involved. We have added Singing in 2020 to complement our popular Fiddle and Ensemble classes. Throughout the week we also have a variety of extra activities - concerts, masterclasses, trips and sessions. The week culminates in the ‘Big Gig’ where participants will perform music they have been working on in their classes during the week.
Big Country, one of Scotland’s best loved rock bands return to Shetland following a sell-out gig at Mareel in 2013. Formed by ex-members of The Skids in 1981, Big Country went on to have huge success in the 80’s with the seminal number 1 album, Steeltown, and hit singles Look Away, Fields Of Fire and In A Big Country. Nearly 40 years later and Big Country are still a huge draw worldwide and will return to Shetland to play a greatest hits set at Mareel. Support comes from local rockers, Forgotten Sons.
Book absolutely everything with the Full Frenzy ticket, or the Half Frenzy gives you access to the course, concerts, trips and sessions but allows you to book masterclasses separately.

Eva Cassidy “The Story” A portrayal of the life of Eva Cassidy through video, voice and song. Elsa Jean McTaggart presents a tribute to her all-time favourite artist Eva Cassidy. With her voice and guitar plus piano accompaniment, she brings alive the essence of Eva as she relates the songs to the beautiful and yet tragic story of one of the world’s most iconic voices, which was not brought to light until years after her untimely death at 33. “One of these very few people with a distinctive enough voice to do the music and songs of Eva Cassidy justice.” - Tom King Southside Advertiser
