EX 07: HELPING HUMANITY:

THE UNCONVENTIONAL PARKING GARAGE

For this project students were asked to now successfully place their programs into their building. My intention for this project was to have the floors integrate with the circulation of my people and cars, as well as interact with my programs. The programs I chose to place inside my structure were theatre and office/miscellaneous spaces that's are multi-functional. One thing I wanted was that when the floors were not being used for parking they can be used for something else, seating area,a market, etc. I took this inspirations from my case study on the parking garage in Miami, designed by Herzog & de Meuron. This project now doesn't just serve as a place for parking but is multi-functional and will attract many different types of people from the surrounding communities and serve as a gathering place for them.

This parking garage inspired the placement of my programs, being in different positions, depending on the floor you’re on. This also inspired me to have multipurpose floors, so when the floor isn’t being used for parking, they can be used for something else.
