Adrenal Fatigue vs. Protection - It's all in how you look at it

It breaks my heart to hear my clients say (often sheepishly) “I think I have adrenal fatigue ” I can feel their sense of control fade away. The helplessness is palpable. On one hand, they are relieved. They have an answer - something to blame. It’s the old ‘ name it, blame it, and tame it’ mindset

We have a name: adrenal fatigue. We can now blame everything on those lazy adrenals.

And the next question they ask me - what supplements do you have to give me more energy?

And I don’t blame them It’s the mindset we are conditioned to follow - this body part is clearly broken; how can you fix it or force it to do what it doesn’t want to do?

So rarely do we think instead ‘oh, wow, this body part is struggling. I wonder why? What happened? How can I support it to get back to tip top shape?’

The truth is your adrenals aren’t fatigued; and they aren’t broken. They haven’t given up on you or betrayed you. No.

Instead you have pushed them so hard and for so long that they are tapping out - begging for mercy. They are actually doing less work to try to protect you from… well… you and your choices. NO- it didn’t appear suddenly even if it might feel that way.

THEY GAVE YOU SIGNS FOR A WHILE THAT THEY WEREN’T ABLE TO KEEP UP AT THIS SAME SPEED.

All of the above are signs of a nervous system that doesn’t know if you are going to make it - thinks you are being chased and your survival isn’t guaranteed. Of course along with this comes some ‘tag along’ symptoms (ie. signals from your body that it needs your attention):

But here’s where the magic happens. YOUR BODY IS RESILIENT. It is doing its best every single day to give you the best life possible based on your choices. This truth means that when you change your choices you change your experience

So now that you have the keys, what do you do? You start to pay attention.

Do your meals give you steady energy? Or do you crash? Do you get congested, gassy, or bloated after eating? Right away or a few hours later? Always or just sometimes?

The Thoughts You Think

Do you wear your stress like a badge of honor? Do you talk to yourself lovingly? Or do you say things to yourself that you would never EVER say to your best friend if she was going through the same experiences you are weathering right now?
