MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

It isn’t easy to balance a career and a family with the pursuit of something new, but it’s our mission to make it as easy as possible.

We live in a world characterized by constant change. This is particularly true in the labour force, where many of the most in-demand jobs didn’t exist 10 years ago. As a career educator, it’s important that we stay nimble, consistently engaging with employers, professors, professional associations and industry partners; then designing, developing and delivering innovative offerings that meet the demands of industry. For us, staying relevant is a never-ending evolution. To be effective adult educators, we must also be proactive in addressing the needs of our students. It isn’t easy to balance a career and a family with the pursuit of something new, but it’s our mission to make it as easy as possible. This new mission is at the heart of everything we do, every day. It’s a subtle change — we’ve always cared deeply about helping our students succeed — but an important one.

Whatever change you’re seeking in your own life — a new career direction or an upgrade to your current career — we look forward to welcoming you to the Sheridan Faculty of Continuing and Professional Studies. Ready? Register now, or get in touch. We’re here to help.

Has Malik Dean, Faculty of Continuing and Professional Studies

CAREER EDUCATION THAT FITS REAL LIFE

If you’re like many of our students, you have a lot going on — a career, a family, a life. You also have big goals. We believe that reaching your career goals shouldn’t come at the expense of everything else in your life. That’s why we provide learning options that fit around the things that matter most. ON-CAMPUS LEARNING

200+ ONLINE COURSES AND GROWING

The majority of our courses are offered at our conveniently located campuses in Oakville, Brampton and Mississauga. Almost all of our courses are offered at night and on weekends, so you can learn and network with like-minded people outside of the typical “9 to 5“ work hours.

We’re continually developing online courses to add to our ever-growing portfolio. We know you’re balancing hectic schedules and life demands, so we offer these courses to give you the freedom and flexibility to learn and participate in online discussions from the comfort of your home, office, local café — or wherever is most convenient for you.

BLENDED LEARNING A growing number of our courses are now available in blended learning formats, which combine on-campus discussions with online activities. This allows you to network and make personal connections with instructors and classmates while giving you the flexibility to learn and reflect on your own time.

RELEVANT PROGRAMS, REAL-WORLD SKILLS

Whether you choose to pursue a professional certificate or take individual courses, you can be confident that your studies will set you up for success in your chosen field. That’s because the content and delivery of every course we offer is informed by what matters, where it matters most. INDUSTRY CONNECTIONS

SKILLS THAT MATTER

Providing relevant professional education requires staying connected with professionals on the front lines of industry. Our industry partnerships enable us to model our program and course content around what the labour market needs — and what today’s employers want.

Our career education options provide you with knowledge and know-how that mean something in the real world. From critical thinking and creative problem solving to communication and collaboration, studying with us will help you develop a tool box of the most relevant and in-demand competencies — and leave you ready to create the future you’ve been imagining.

EXPERIENCED FACILITATORS, ENGAGING LEARNING Exceptional career education requires exceptional faculty. Ours are accomplished professionals who are also experienced in teaching adult learners. They understand that our students bring insight and experience to the classroom conversation, so they lecture less, and facilitate more. The result is an engaging learning environment based around participation and interaction — meaning you come out with an in-depth grasp of the subject material, and the skills required to apply it.
