A Letter from Our President & CEO

DEAR FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS OF S2S:

Much as a planted tree needs its roots to grow and deepen to build strength and stability, so too must Shelters to Shutters grow and deepen a strong network in each community where we seek to make a difference.

This process of deepening our roots and embedding ourselves as a permanent fixture in each local community where we operate required a shift in strategy for the organization in 2021. Our new strategy led us to the hiring of five executive directors in five cities who began the process of creating self-sustaining operations with the support of local leaders and partners. We also began building a national team with the experience and skills needed to support our vision for expansion across the country. We laid the foundation for executing our strategic business plan to launch operations in five cities per year over the next five years. And finally, we began developing our training and mentoring programs to further add value for both those we serve and our industry employment partners.

Shelters to Shutters is at the crossroads of employment, housing, and workforce development. All three are needed to help individuals achieve and sustain economic independence, and our impact doesn’t stop with those adults we place in employment and housing. Many are parents whose children are directly impacted by the opportunity to have a stable and safe home. As an organization, we have changed the lives of hundreds of people, and with the execution of our new strategy in place, we are poised and ready to exponentially increase this number moving forward.
