We are excited to share with you the joy and energy that comes with live performances! We’ve crafted a robust season of big bands, jazz, country, bluegrass, pop, and classical shows. The Fine & Performing Arts Series showcases the artistic work of Shell Point resident artists and professional artists of the region, along with the annual concert series, including performances by the Southwest Florida Symphony and the dancers of the Florida Gulfshore Ballet. Please join your friends at The Tribby as we bring the inspiration of great music—performed by world-acclaimed artists—for everyone in our community to experience and enjoy.

Flora & Fauna

Artworks Inspired by Nature

THE SHELL POINT GALLERY

Executed in bronze, ceramic, glass, paint, and mixed media, the artworks in Flora & Fauna express the beauty of nature. Guest artist Martha Grattan of South Carolina joins four of Shell Point’s talented resident artists—painters Renée Chastant and Betsy Conrad, potter Augusta Crane, and glass artist/potter Annie Wainwright—to create a magical world of animals, insects, flowers, and foliage.

In this exhibition, visitors will stroll through various “places” in nature to discover the artworks on display. A highlight of these spaces, The Pond will display spectacular ceramic lily pads, whimsical ceramic frogs and a beautiful heron, colorful glass birds and insects, and surrounding paintings depicting the flora and fauna typically found at a pond.

A Legacy Exhibition

THE TRIBBY LEGACY AND OVERLOOK GALLERIES

From traditional designs to art quilts, each of Legacy Artist Pat Meredith’s creations demonstrate her meticulous craftsmanship. Former president of the Shell Point Quilters, Pat Meredith is a long-time weaver, spinner, quilter, and educator. This dazzling exhibition will present more than ten spectacular quilts, many on firsttime public display. The exhibition also includes a nativity scene that Pat Meredith knitted, as well as a spinning wheel, antique miniature sewing machines, and other textile-related artifacts from the artist’s extensive collection.

Concern for the environment inspired this exhibition of more than 200 artworks, each one incorporating one or more discarded hubcaps and created by full-time professional artists across the globe. The exhibition was originally paired with the Smithsonian Institution exhibition WASTE NOT and presented in 2014 as Second Time Around: The Hubcap as Art in the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. Following that venue, a greatly abbreviated version of the exhibition toured nationally. This is the first time in ten years that the collection as shown in the Second Time Around exhibition will be on public display in nearly its original, dazzling and fascinating entirety.

Seeing Red Works by Shell Point Artists & Writers

THE SHELL POINT GALLERY

Shell Point has a robust arts community that numbers at least 500 residents who are actively involved in artistic endeavors. Many residents in this community are now producing art of high artistic quality. As a juried and judged exhibition, Seeing Red will display exemplary artworks being produced by Shell Point artists and artisans today—in all mediums—including painting, photography, drawing, pottery, glass, textiles, collage, wood, and more. It is anticipated that up to 70 objects will be on display, each one presenting its artist’s unique interpretation of “seeing red.” A special component of the exhibition will present the works of Shell Point writers, reflecting on the same theme.

The 20th Anniversary Exhibition Of Art Quilters Unlimited

THE TRIBBY LEGACY AND OVERLOOK GALLERIES

An art quilt presents its maker’s original design rather than a traditional pattern. It is a demanding genre, requiring the quilter to be both artist and superb needleworker. In this exhibition, Art Quilters Unlimited of Fort Myers is celebrating its 20th anniversary. In honor of that occasion, for this exhibition, each member was randomly assigned a major artist of the 20th century and then allowed to choose any artwork of that artist for which to create a textile homage. Works on display will include quilts and other textile creations.

This music review of America’s Swing Era is a fun-filled event for all ages! An energetic group of instrumentalists celebrates the melodies of the great Big Bands during the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, including the greatest hits as recorded by Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Jimmy Lunceford, Harry James, Artie Shaw, Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman, Bunny Berigan and Count Basie. Talented vocalists bring to life favorites made famous by Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Bob Eberly, Helen O’Connell, Rosemary Clooney, and other idols.

Stephanie Trick & Paolo Alderighi

Pioneers in the use of four-hand piano in jazz, Stephanie Trick, a leading exponent of stride piano, and Paolo Alderighi, one of Italy’s foremost jazz pianists, have earned widespread success with their arrangements of classics from the stride piano, ragtime, and boogie woogie traditions—as well as from the Swing Era and the Golden Age of Tin Pan Alley. Most recently, they have focused on the repertoire created during a time when musicals were at the heart of American popular culture: the Classical Hollywood Cinema period and the Golden Age of Broadway. Blending impeccable technique with mature musicality, the piano duo has performed across the United States, Europe, and Asia, winning the acclaim of critics and fans alike in venues including the Gilmore Keyboard Festival, Jazz at Filoli, the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, the Kobe Jazz Street Festival in Japan, the London Jazz Festival, and the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival.

The Vega String Quartet

The Vega String Quartet, Quartet-in-Residence at Emory University, is cultivating a new generation of chamber music lovers through dynamic performances and innovative community engagement. They concertize both nationally and internationally, most recently in Baltimore, Chicago, Nashville, Sacramento, Berlin, San Miguel, and the Brahmssaal in Vienna’s Musikverein. The Quartet’s major projects at Emory have included performing the complete cycle of Beethoven quartets, as well as pairing Bach’s complete works for solo violin, viola and cello with the six Bartók quartets. They have also developed a series of “Jazz Meets Classics” programs, bringing the two genres together. Recent highlights include the Quartet's debut at Amsterdam’s famed Concertgebouw, a multi-city tour of Denmark, with performances at venues such as the Royal Danish Conservatory, and appearances at El Paso Pro Musica and the Sitka Music Festival.

Vienna Boys Choir At The

Village Church

With a rich history that dates back to early 15th century, the Vienna Boys Choir is composed of nearly 100 choristers between the ages of 10 and 14. Divided into four touring choirs, each group spends nine to 11 weeks of the school year on tour. Collectively, they perform as many as 300 concerts each year for almost half a million people in Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas.

The choir's repertoire includes everything from medieval to contemporary and experimental music. Motets and lieder for boys’ choir form the core of the touring repertoire, as do the choir’s own arrangements of quintessentially Viennese music, waltzes and polkas by Lehar, Lanner and Strauss. Since the 1920s, the Choir has collected music from around the world. One of the Choir's goals is to introduce the boys to as many different styles of music as possible. The choir has also commissioned a number of world music projects.

Eroica Trio

The most sought-after trio in the world, the Grammy-nominated Eroica Trio enraptures audiences with flawless technical virtuosity, irresistible enthusiasm and sensual elegance. The three women who make up this celebrated ensemble electrify the concert stage with their passionate performances.

Formed at The Juilliard School, the Trio has won the prestigious Naumburg Award, resulting in a highly successful Lincoln Center debut and has since toured the United States, Europe, Middle East, South America, and Asia. While maintaining their demanding concert schedule, the Eroica Trio has released eight critically lauded recordings for Angel/EMI Classics Records, garnering multiple Grammy nominations. The first all-female chamber ensemble to reach the top echelon of the field, the women of the Eroica Trio have shattered the age-old gender barrier, leading the vanguard and inspiring many to follow.

Evren Ozel, Concert Pianist

Thursday, March 14, 2024 | 7 p.m.

American pianist Evren Ozel began his musical studies at age three in his hometown of Minneapolis, MN. He has won numerous honors and awards, including scholarships from the U.S Chopin Foundation and Young Arts Foundation; first prize at the 2016 Boston Symphony Concerto Competition; second prize at the 2016 Thomas and Evon Cooper International Competition; and second prize—as well as Mozart and Chopin special prizes—at the 2018 Dublin International Piano Competition. Most recently, he received second prize and special prizes for Best Mazurka and Best Polonaise at the 2020 U.S. National Chopin Competition, securing the honor of representing the United States in the 2021 International Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Poland, where he was a quarterfinalist.

Southwest Florida Symphony presents Bach, Mozart and Tchaikovsky

Internationally renowned and locally beloved Maestro Radu Paponiu makes his long-awaited debut for an exclusive Tribby engagement featuring pianist Arturo Fernandez, a Jillian Prescott Scholarship Competition winner who began his career right here in Southwest Florida. In addition to experiencing the dazzling artistic chemistry among Maestro Paponiu, the orchestra and Mr. Fernandez, this program features Bach’s Piano Concerto in D minor, the Mozart Divertimento in F, and the Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings, all designed to punctuate the conclusion of a brilliant concert season for both the Southwest Florida Symphony and the Tribby Arts Center.

Southern Raised

Abluegrass band from the Ozark mountains, Southern Raised has created a trademark sound where classical meets bluegrass, and city streets meet country roads. Collectively, the group has received nominations from Singing News Fan Awards, Diamond Awards, Front Porch Fellowship, and a staggering 32 SPBGMA Midwest nominations, along with four-time nominations for Fiddle Performer of the Year and multiple awards for Bass Performer of the Year, Band of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, and Christian Country Album of the Year, to name a few.

The Texas Tenors have appeared on the most recent season of NBC’s national hit television show America’s Got Talent: The Champions and are considered the show’s most successful touring group. Achart-topping all-sister Celtic folk and pop band from Donegal, the Screaming Orphans are known worldwide for their award-winning sound that combines original pop songs with a unique take on traditional Irish music. From an early age, the Diver sisters entertained international audiences around Ireland accompanying their mother, legendary céilí singer Kathleen Fitzgerald. The band has always defied being pigeonholed, having masterfully developed their own unique fusion of folk and pop. The sisters’ trademark spine-tingling four-part harmony and mastery of their instruments, combined with their highly energized performances, take audiences of all ages on an exhilarating and emotional musical journey.
