HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?

We are both intensive care nurses and started new jobs at the same hospital around the same time. During my first week, I met his cousin and after getting to know me, she decided Matt and I would be perfect together. After she told me all about Matt and who he was as a person, I remember calling my mom minutes after and telling her that this could be my future husband–which was very unlike me. That evening he reached out to me, and the rest is history.

The Proposal

Matt and I love spending time at the beach, and one of my favorite things to do is watch sunsets. During Labor Day weekend, we had a trip planned to Tampa, Florida, to visit his sister. Matt and I had late dinner reservations, so he wanted us to go walk on the beach and watch the sunset beforehand. He surprised me and proposed on the beach!

Favorite Wedding Moment

My favorite moment during the wedding was the ceremony itself. I told our pastor the one thing I wanted for our ceremony was for it to be personal and intentional. I wanted all our family and friends that were there to feel as though they knew us and our story well. As the pastor shared our story, he intertwined it with the Gospel, illuminating how we were becoming one through Christ while glorifying Him.

I loved my flower bouquets and my wedding invitation suite! I was very specific on what I wanted–all white and cream flowers, clean cut and a touch of greenery for garnish. The bouquets exceeded my expectations! My invitations had a custom monogram at the top, which added a personalized flare, and each invitation was different. I loved the sleekness and elegance of them.

HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?

Reed and I both pursued our respective sports at Wofford College. We both found ourselves in a class called Taste of Chocolate for our January interim. We had mutual friends who encouraged us to meet, and our connection continued to grow during our class and continued on afterwards. I knew there was something special from the moment I met him because of his ability to make me feel so comfortable.

THE PROPOSAL

We had been dating for about five years, so I knew the question was going to be coming soon. My mom told me that I needed to get dressed up, so we could go run some errands before meeting for dinner. She told me she wanted to drive up on Vestavia Drive to look at spots for “potential” engagement pictures sometime in the future. Once we drove up, she began to slow down, and I looked out the window and saw Reed standing there. It was the easiest “yes” ever!

FAVORITE WEDDING MOMENT

My favorite moment from the wedding was when we were leaving the church. We were finally married and getting to see all of the people that love us the most was wonderful. There was just so much joy between the two of us, and you could feel that love and joy radiating throughout the entire cathedral.

I absolutely loved my florals, which were done by the Paper and Petal Co. They were classic and simple just like I had imagined. I also loved having a dress change from a ceremony gown to a reception gown. It was a fun surprise when we entered when everyone saw that I had changed.
