he Brigham Sting is a new part of the Rocky Mountain Football League (RMFL). This is a semi-pro league, above college level and just below the NFL. They have an indoor arena league in the winter and an outdoor league in the summer. The Sting started last year, 2013, as a AA team. They played a hard season and ended up being 7-1 and went into the playoffs. Unfortunately they lost their first playoff game, but spent a lot of their off season preparing to do better for next season. This year the Sting decided to take it to the next level and move up to AAA. New players were drafted including David Carter (#17), Connor Bowman (#16), Connor Hal-

liday (#93), James Adams (#49), Taylor Bowman (#11), and Weston Rees (#28), among others as well. Starting out as the under dogs, the Sting now stand at 7-1, once again. They are ranked with the #1 defence in the league, only having 82 points scored against them. They also rank 6th out of 16 on offense.

W e got a chance to sit down with

rookie David Carter, wide receiver, to ask about his experience on the team. “This is a great team to be with,” said David. “We came together in a short amount of time and there is a lot of talent out there. I have learned a lot since being on the team. I haven’t had a lot of experience, besides backyard football with friends and flag football tournaments at the U of U and Weber State. I see myself getting better and better every week and am excited for every game we encounter.” Being a rookie he hasn’t seen a lot of playing time on the feild, but has had some good opportunities. I also took the time to ask him if there are any other positions on the team he would want to try. “I was possibly thinking of moving to defence.

Maybe DB or safety, but I like my position as wide receiver and I will just have to see what the future holds.” Only two more weeks till the Sting get to see their competitors in the playoffs. In the mean time they will keep working hard at practice, preparing to hopefully go to the championship.
