Appsbar plans to enforce this patent where companies using similar systems (that infringe on their Patent) will be required to license the technology and pay a royalty fee, or potentially be sent a letter to cease and desist. The patent covers systems for allowing users to develop mobile applications that can be made to run on a variety of mobile operating systems such as iOS and Android. This patented technology allows a user build and customize a mobile application through a web-based interface by selecting certain properties that the user would like to include in the application. The system determines and presents to the user a variety of customizable components pertaining to functionality, design and content of the mobile application based on the received user selections.
“We are proud that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recognized the innovative and proprietary set of features offered by Appsbar,” Shawn McNamara said. “We plan on strictly enforcing our patent with other companies that currently provide similar types of services.” While Appsbar isn’t the only service that offers the app building template, it had enough unique elements and a first-to-the-market reputation that warranted some attention from the Patent Office.
