The Shawnee Life, what are you doing with it?
by Tug Taviano of Kingswood Village
What do you write in a column, to an audience that you respect, are friends with, and may be full of professionals that are potentially more educated, reserved, or more eloquently spoken? These are the questions that I asked myself, after I responded to a request for submissions from Shawnee Life readers.
Lately, I have been very self-reflective, and extremely focused on not making the most out of my life, but impacting those around me with the decisions that I make in it. If part of the definition of life is the power of adaptation to environment through changes originating internally, then it seems like one of the most important things I can do is decide to impact the environment in which I live with the purpose that is greater than me.
So now I turn it to you, what are you doing with your “Shawnee Life” to make the environment around you better? Are you processing changes that need to be made, or still leaning on the excuse of, it’s not my job or not in my makeup to better the place I live!
The biggest place that we call home is the mindset in which we wake up with. So I challenge you to encourage someone this week, write a nice handwritten thank you note to someone (something I have seen Troy Breidenbach put into practice), or simply pick up the phone and have a converswation with someone that has impacted you. You never know what that will do for them, and for you!
Some of you do not realize the impact that you have had on my life, personally, and professionally, for that I am grateful. In trade, I hope that the thoughts that I share in this column will give you that extra boost, or challenge you to live, love, lead, and listen in ways that are full of purpose!
