WINTER CARNIVAL

During the summer, fun festivals abound, but in winter, there’s never enough to do. However, the Lombard Park District is changing that with a Winter Carnival. The free event has both indoor and outdoor activities for the whole family, from carnival games to ice carving demonstrations, crafts and much more. Learn all about what lies beneath your feet at the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art’s Rock and Mineral Identification class. Geologist Sara Johnson will give an introduction to rocks and minerals, teach guests how to make a basic mineral test kit, hone observation skills and practice hardness tests. UIC BASKETBALL TRIP Take a trip with the Elmhurst Park District to see things heat up at a UIC Flames men’s basketball game. The Park District offers discounted tickets and bus transportation to watch the Flames play Cleveland State on Saturday. The bus will pick up participants from The Hub at Berens Park, 493 Oaklawn Ave., Elmhurst, departing at 5 p.m. and returning at 11 p.m. Everyone must ride the bus there and back.
