Westmont Handles Healthcare Needs from Birth to Seniors
Westmont residents have access to some of the state’s finest healthcare institutions within an active community where residents continually find opportunities to engage with others, build friendships and make a positive impact. Westmont residents can choose top-rated medical care from Edward-Elmhurst Health, AMITA Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale and Advocate Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center in Downers Grove. These three hospitals with additional offices for physicians and specialists provide some of the finest care in the state and are located within a very short drive from the community. The Westmont Chamber of Commerce is proud to collaborate with businesses each year at its annual Senior Expo. This event brings a collection of businesses and services that all work with seniors and their families in a fun and energetic environment to help residents learn more about local community services.

Additionally, the Westmont Chamber of Commerce invites its business members to participate in the monthly Senior Resource Committee, providing networking opportunities for businesses that are involved with the senior community as well as planning programs and events.
The Westmont Park District invites all residents age 55 and older to connect and enjoy activities and events through the Senior Center, located at 55 E. Richmond St. Open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This dedicated space provides opportunities for fitness, educational classes, trips and recreation including tables for card games. Westmont has made caring for its aging population a priority and is proud to have earned the designation as a Dementia Friendly Community, the first village to earn this status within DuPage County. To be recognized as a Dementia Friendly Community means staff within the village, including police and fire personnel, as well as staff from the Westmont Library and park district have taken specific steps to train and provide resources to serve and accommodate those with dementia and their care-partners. Additionally, this training and awareness extends beyond the village staff to other agencies, including the Westmont Chamber of Commerce and local businesses.
A Dementia Friendly Community is one that is safe and respectful of individuals with the disease, their families and caregivers and provides supportive options that foster one’s quality of life. Dementia Friendly Westmont aims to provide resources and support to those with dementia and their care-partners. Residents can attend the dementia educational programs at the Westmont library and soon, a Memory Café. This Café will be a welcoming place for those living with dementia and care partners to socialize, enjoy an activity together and get mutual support. Taking care of one’s self means taking care of both body and mind. Residents choose Westmont for its access to health care, the support of one’s health needs and the ability to bring people together in friendship.
