WESTMONT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Westmont Economic Development Partnership

Working in support of the growth and success of Westmont

Greetings from the Westmont Economic Development Partnership (WEDP) to all our residents, property and business owners that call Westmont home. What is WEDP? WEDP is a publicprivate partnership with the Village of Westmont and the Westmont Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau. The purpose of WEDP is to proactively promote the Village of Westmont in ways that support the retention of our existing business community, recruit new businesses as well as attract and retain residents to the quality of life offered in Westmont. WEDP services include corporate location support, ready inventory of available commercial and residential properties, site selection tours and general support with business information and location selection services to serve as a guide and key resource on how to open or expand a business in Westmont. Our central location with excellent transportation and schools and a highly educated workforce makes Westmont a desirable place to live.

In addition, this also makes Westmont a great place to lease, build, buy and conduct business. As a direct result, commercial development activity during 2022 in Westmont included the grand opening of a new transit-oriented designed luxury multi-family building called Quincy Station at 1 West Quincy Street. Quincy Station is located in the heart of downtown Westmont and offers unique features with distinctive interiors available in a studio to two bedrooms plus den configurations. Plans are inprocess for additional new residential and commercial projects in downtown Westmont. In 2022 we plan to have a grand total of five new restaurants open and one relocated to a larger space in downtown Westmont. We also celebrated the 25th anniversary of Uncle Bub’s BBQ in downtown Westmont in November; way to go, Uncle Bub’s BBQ … Westmont loves you! WEDP has a key incentive tool that can be used to recruit and retain; Westmont has an active TIF District in both our Downtown B-1 Business District and in our 63rd Street South Westmont Business District. Funds created through these TIF districts have already greatly helped to spur new development and support infrastructure investments and upgrades. Additional potential project incentives can be considered based on project location, type, scope and positive economic impact (jobs, sales tax, property tax, etc.) to the village. WEDP does ask for your help and support in terms of the identification of any potential new business that you would value in Westmont. Also, if you have experienced a business elsewhere that you think is a good fit for our community, please pass that along – we value your input! Last but not least, if you know someone looking for a new place to live, recommend Westmont. We are happy to connect them with a local realtor! Please contact WEDP with your ideas and recommendations.
