Wondertucky owner David Cunningham talks Saturday with patrons about the distilling process. Cunningham completed a tasting room at the distillery in December. Cunningham hopes to expand to a larger location and add live music and a restaurant.

Continued from page A3 Chicago and outside the state, including Pennsylvania and Florida. Jaime McNamara, of Genoa City, Wisconsin, attended a tour with a friend about a week ago and already has been back twice. “It’s amazing. I loved everything they had,” McNamara said, adding that the business filled a need in the community. Cunningham recently partnered with Joy Pinnau of Capron, also known as The Inebriated Artist, to host paint and sips at his distillery. The events include tours, sampling, a cash bar and all necessary painting

supplies for $35 a person. “We want more and more (local businesses) coming and getting involved with us,” he said. Danielle Gulli, executive director of the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce, said the city prides itself on the number of small, independent businesses that have come to the area. She said Wondertucky Distillery is a “destination”-type business that attracts people from outside of the community. She said the Chamber of Commerce and city officials look forward to the “exciting things” Wondertucky has planned this year. LOCAL BRIEF Weight restrictions imposed on Johnson Road bridge near Hebron

HEBRON – The Illinois Department of Transportation slapped new weight restrictions on the Johnson Road bridge southwest of town because of structural deficiencies. Single-unit vehicles must weigh no more than 12 tons to cross the bridge, while vehicles with three or more axles cannot weigh more than 19 tons. The new restrictions on the bridge over Nippersink Creek were posted last week by the McHenry County Division

of Transportation. Improvements to the bridge will be added to the next five-year county transportation plan – the latest draft, covering projects through 2022, is under review. Seventeen bridges are scheduled for renovation or replacement in the draft plan. Just more than 50 of the 133 county bridges included in the National Bridge Inventory are under the county’s jurisdiction, with the rest under various township jurisdictions.
