ell before the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic surfaced and ultimately began to dissipate – accelerating our collective drive to exercise in between – Orland Park offered numerous opportunities and outlets for recreation. What a relief. Eager to boost your fitness level or maintain that good shape after a recent recommitment to working out? Explore membership options at the Orland Park Health & Fitness Center (15430 West Ave.) or the Sportsplex Fitness and Recreation Center (11351 W. 159th St.). At Centennial Park (14700 Ravinia Ave.),
countless combinations for one-on-one or group fun exist, with baseball, softball and soccer fields strewn about a sprawling layout that also features a path for running, walking and biking. The Centennial Park Aquatic Center, which is set to open for the season May 29, offers a family friendly setting to simply beat the heat, or get those laps in. Visitors to the park also can show their moves at Grinding Edge Skate Park. The John Humphrey Complex (14825 West Ave., #3144) is another great location for a multifaceted recreational experience, as the park abounds with activities, including: bandstands, playgrounds, athletic fields, tennis courts,
volleyball courts, roller hockey, fishing, kayaking, climbing walls, pavilions and a water park. Is golf your game? There are a number of golf and country clubs in Orland Park and adjacent communities that provide players with unique challenges as well as welcome scenery, including Midlothian Country Club (5000W. 147th St., Midlothian); Palos Country Club (1311 Southwest Highway); Silver Lake Country Club (14700 S. 82nd Ave.) and Crystal Tree Golf & Country Club (10700 W. 153rd St.).
