Dr. Timothy Williams joins family medicine practice at KSB “I had known KSB as a med student and knew in the back of my mind that I would eventually like to practice here.” Dr. Timothy Williams KSB Hospital welcomes Dr. Timothy Williams, who joins the family medicine practice at KSB’s Town Square Center in Dixon, IL. He takes over the reins from Dr. Joseph Welty, who retires at the end of 2020. Welty has been practicing family medicine in Dixon since 1985. In the increasingly fragmented world of healthcare, one thing remains constant: family medicine physicians are dedicated to treating the whole person. Family medicine’s cornerstone is an ongoing, personal patient-physician relationship focusing on coordinated care from infancy through geriatrics. In addition to check-ups and annual physicals, family medicine providers also offer a wide range of services to support patients in reaching optimal health. Born in Peoria and raised in Chillicothe, by the time Williams was in high school, he knew that he wanted to work in the medical field. Early on, he enjoyed medical science in school, but a more significant influence came to him through his boyhood family medicine physician, Dr. Fred White. After six years working as a PA, Dr. Williams saw the opportunities that becoming a physician held and went back to medical school. During this time, he came to KSB Hospital to work with Dr. Welty as a medical student for a few months. One of the aspects he enjoyed about his first time at KSB was the rural, small-town medical practice atmosphere. “I appreciated how family medicine physicians practiced with a high degree of autonomy. All the medical teams, including specialists, were--and still are--collaborative. They made a team effort to take care of the patient,” comments Williams.

He was the doctor who did anything and everything,” said Williams. During his high school junior and senior years, Williams shadowed the doctor and physician’s assistant (PA), who took over Dr. White’s practice after retirement. Medicine seems to run in Dr. William’s family. His older sister, Tamra Brisbin, PA-C, graduated from PA school while he was a sophomore in high school. She continues to practice in urgent care in the Peoria area. Dr. Williams began his career in the medical field, serving as an EMT for the Chillicothe Ambulance Squad during his senior year of high school. He then completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in PA studies before joining the United States Army as a medical officer in October 2001 -- soon after the events of 9/11. Williams had always planned on joining the military at some point in life as his family has an extensive history in the armed forces. His grandfather served in WWII, and his father served during the Vietnam era. Currently, Williams is serving in the Illinois Army National
Moving from the Peoria area with Dr. Williams this past spring, is his wife, Tiffani, and their four children ranging in ages 21 to 6. Tiffani has roots in the area, growing up near Oregon, IL. Her family is still in the region, making settling in a smoother transition than most moves are. Tiffany has started a position as a PA with KSB’s Polo Clinic. They purchased a 15-acre property near Byron, IL, with hopes of raising goats and chickens. Currently, the family is content just getting to know the area and exploring their property. Reflecting on his past medical school days with Dr. Welty, Williams’ remarked, “I had known KSB as a med student and knew in the back of my mind that I would eventually like to practice here.” As Dr. Williams continues to work with Dr. Welty, the practice is seeing both new and current patients at KSB’s Town Square Center.
