CLUB DONATES Oregon Woman’sClub donates children’s books

Donation honors Sharon Wagner

The Oregon Woman’s Club has donated a collection of children’s books to the Oregon Public Library. The donation was made in the name of Sharon A. Wagner, long-time past president of the group, who passed away in January of this year.

The books, all of which are about horses, selected with the help of Debbie Herman, the youth librarian, are designed for a variety of age and reading skill levels. They include If a Horse Had Words by Kelly Cooper and Missy Eldridge, This Way, celebrates 90 years

Leona Groenhagen celebrated her 90 th birthday on Tuesday, June 30 with a family dinner at home.

The titles were selected in honor of Wagner’s love of horses. Each book contains a bookplate acknowledging the donation in Wagner’s name. They are all available on request from the Oregon Public Library.

Wagner was an accomplished horse woman, doing recreational riding and participating in barrel races on horseback.

She was also an elementary school teacher for more than 31 years in the Oregon, Seward and Chana school
