Rochelle man wanted for sexual assault arrested in Mississippi

Mt. Morris woman charged with sexual abuse A Mt. Morris woman was arrested July 29 for having an inappropriate sexual relationship between a 14-year-old male. Oregon police made the arrest after receiving a report of an incident that had taken place over approximately three months. “On July 29, after an investigation conducted by the Oregon Police Department, Courtney F. Carpenter, 22, of Mt. Morris, was arrested for the offense of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony,” police said in a press release. Carpenter was taken into custody at the Oregon Police Department and transported to the Ogle County Jail pending a court appearance.

July 29 Dustin Smith, 40, of Rockford was issued citations at 6:09 a.m. for driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle after deputies responded to the 7,000 block of North Kishwaukee Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle in the 7,000 block of North Winding Oak Lane. Smith was released on an I-Bond to appear in court at a later date. Michael Huenefeld, 42, of Freeport was arrested at 7:01 p.m. for driving while license suspended and on an outstanding Stephenson County warrant after deputies initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Freeport Road and James Road. July 30 Kelsy Hohenstein, 26, of Lindenwood was arrested at 12:53 p.m. for driving while license suspended, leaving the scene of an accident and no insurance after deputies responded to the 7,000 block of North Illinois 251 in reference to a four-vehicle accident. Hohenstein was given an I-bond for her citations. Shanya Koehler, 22, of Rockford was arrested at 5:42 p.m. for driving while license suspended after deputies initi-

ated a traffic stop in the 7,000 block of South Lowell Park Road. Koehler was given an individual bond and released from the scene with a future court date. July 31 Heather Giger, 28, of Rockford was arrested for a possession of drug paraphernalia warrant. Giger’s bond was set at $3,000/10% pending a court appearance. Jose Gutierrez-Hernandez, 35, of Aurora was arrested at 6:38 p.m. for driving while license revoked after deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Interstate 39 at mile marker 102. Gutierrez-Hernandez was also issued a citation for improper lane usage. Gutierrez-Hernandez was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond. Jonathan R. Leverton, 27, of Monroe, Wisconsin was arrested at 2:10 p.m. for driving while under the influence of drugs, driving while license revoked and numerous other charges after deputies responded to a one vehicle accident in the 8,300 block of North Illinois 251. While en route, witnesses report the offending car had left the scene and it was reported the only occupant was injured. The vehicle was located and stopped near the intersection of Illinois 251 and Illinois 72. Leverton was transported to Swedish American by New Milford Ambulance. He was arrested at the

hospital and released with a September court date. Aug. 1 At 3 p.m. deputies responded to the railroad crossing in Chana in regards to a motorcycle accident involving a truck. Upon arrival it was determined that Brian L. Balch, 43, of rural Chana was southbound on Chana Road in his work truck. Balch struck the rear of a motorcycle driven by Thomas Thompson, 76, of Rochelle. Thompson was taken to the Rochelle Hospital for treatment. Balch was not injured. Balch was cited for failing to reduce his speed to avoid an accident and Thompson was cited for violation of classification (no Class M). Aug. 2 At approximately 6:41 a.m. deputies along with the Oregon Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in the 3,900 block of South Ridge Road. The pedestrian was transported to Mercy Hospital for his injuries. This accident remains under investigation. Aug. 3 Bambi L. Blanco, 53, of Davis Junction was arrested at 4:54 p.m. for driving while under the influence of alcohol after deputies responded to Illinois 64 east of Oregon for a report of a driver

traveling in the center of the roadway. Deputies located the vehicle at Illinois 64 and German Church Road. Blanco was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond. Chad Chojnacki-Puffer, 25, of Sycamore was arrested at 9:17 p.m. for driving while under the influence of alcohol after deputies responded to Illinois 64 and Grandview for a single motorcycle crash. During the investigation it was learned that Chojnacki-Puffer was traveling east on his 2014 Harley Davidson when he failed to negotiate a curve causing him to lose control of the motorcycle and enter the south ditch. Chojnacki-Puffer sustained minor injuries and was transported to KSB Hospital by Oregon Fire. He was released at KSB on an I-Bond and will appear in court on Aug. 9 at 9 a.m. Deputies were assisted on scene by Oregon Fire. The crash remains under investigation. Rebecca Gray, 41, of Dixon was arrested at 4:55 p.m. for driving while license suspended after deputies performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Illinois 2 and Canal Street in Grand Detour. Gray was later released on an I-Bond and also issued a citation for no valid registration.

A 23-year-old Rochelle man charged with predatory criminal sexual assault in 2019 was arrested July 30 in Columbia, Mississippi on an Ogle County warrant, the sheriff’s office said. Rocky D. Lara, 23, still was in Marion County Jail, awaiting extradition to Ogle County. His bond is set at $250,000. The sheriff’s office received information Wednesday that Lara was living in Columbia; police there made the arrest. No further information was available.
