BROOKFIELD – Do you wish you were an Oscar Mayer wiener? More than one approaching customer could be heard whistling or singing the famous theme song for Oscar Mayer’s wieners Friday in Brookfield. Area shoppers of Tischler Finer Foods, 9118 Broadway Ave. in Brookfield, got a chance to see the iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile at an appearance in the store’s parking lot Friday. Guests also were able to purchase hot dogs – two for $1 – from Tischler’s in support of Sister Margaret’s Local Food Pantry at St. Barbara’s Parish in Brookfield. Tischler Finer Foods owner Dennis Tischler said when the opportunity to host the Wienermobile came up, he immediately thought about tying it into a fundraiser for Sister Margaret’s Local Food Pantry, an organization the store supports regularly. “We thought, how do we do something good with this?” Tischler said on Friday. “This community supports us ... we want to support [the community] as much as they do us.” The event definitely brought out the town as families enjoyed hot dogs from Tischler, posed for pictures in front of the Wienermobile and received Wiener Whistles from the Oscar Mayer Hotdoggers (recent college grads who tour the country in the Wienermobile). All proceeds from the event, estimated at about $1,000 from the sale of hot dogs, chips and drinks, were donated to the food pantry.
