60 craft brews on tap at new Beer House LOMBARD – A new business, Beer House, opened its doors July 11 for a grand-opening event at 322 Yorktown Center in Lombard.

Resident’s photo featured in Ron Howard film contest LOMBARD – A photo taken by Lombard resident Adam Johnson is being included in a film contest organized by Canon and actor/director Ron Howard. During the contest, participants are responsible for creating their own short films inspired by a selection of 10 photographs, including the one by Johnson. • Buckled or separated hardwood looring around the toilet. • Wet or water damaged ceiling beneath the toilet. • Visible signs of leakage on piping beneath toilet if exposed. • If looring is getting replaced in bathroom. • Toilet gets loosened or removed for any reason.

LOMBARD – Sacred Heart Catholic Church’s annual summer bash kicked off Thursday and runs through Sunday. Germanfest, the church’s festival, will feature German food, live entertainment, carnival rides, casino games, drinks and more. The event will be on the campus surrounding Sacred Heart Church at 114 S. Elizabeth St. in Lombard. Germanfest is free for guests, and the gates open at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, at 1 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday. A full list of band lineups is available at sacredheart germanfest.org.

The business offers 60 craft beers on tap and 300 bottled specialty beers, along with wine and live entertainment. Guests at the business can review a selection of menus from neighboring restaurants and order-in food, or they can bring their own food to eat at the business.
