HELP advises patients at Denia Hospital The HELP team at Denia Hospital have been involved with a number of cases where operations have been cancelled. This has normally happened where phone contact details are not correct, or when the patient has not been available at the date scheduled for the operation. HELP are urging patients to check that their contact details are correct when an operation is scheduled. Also if a patient knows that they are going to be away at any time, the doctor should be advised of the dates of absence when the patient is put on the operation waiting list. In normal circumstances, however, once a patient has been included on the list for an operation the hospital expect people to be available. Should anybody need any clarification they can contact the HELP desk at the hospital, between 10am and 1.30pm (Monday to Friday) on 96 642 9346.

Harmony and well-being

I can see clearly now the glare has gone! A FEW lucky taxi drivers have been given free Polaroid sunglasses by Specsavers Opticas in Javea and Calpe to enable them to see clearer in the bright summer sunshine. Polarised lenses are high-tech and eliminate 99.9% of horizontal glare, filtering out 100% of UV light. This clever technology improves vision and comfort in bright light - ideal for daytime driving.

Mike Stone, Store Director of both Specsavers Opticas Javea and Calpe said: “Polarised lenses are the best thing for driving all year round in Spain to reduce glare. We thought we’d support our local taxi drivers who work so hard for the community and tourists by giving them Polaroid sunglasses, as they make a big difference when driving.” Taxi driver Pedro Garcia

commented: “I am very happy with my new Polaroid sunglasses. I have never had polarised lenses before, but would never change back to normal sunglasses now. Even in bright sunshine I now rarely need to use my sun visor when driving.” Specsavers Opticas supplies sunglasses with polarised lenses. There are five stores on the Costa Blanca, visit www.specsavers.es to find the branch nearest to you.

By Jack Troughton A DEMONSTRATION of Taoist Tai Chi is being given on Sunday morning (28th April) at the Arenal Beach, Javea, at 11am. Members of the international Taoist Tai Chi Association will show the sequences of slow harmonious movements – designed to improve health in a natural way and maintain physical, mental and spiritual well-being – at the newly opened ‘Passeig Tenista David Ferrer’, near Mas y Mas Supermarket. As well as a physical exercise, Tai Chi is also a meditation in movement and suitable for people of any age and physical condition. Practicing the eastern art improves breathing and circulation, strengthens muscles and bones, helps balance and coordination, and fights the stress and tiredness of daily life. Weekly Tai Chi classes are held in Javea throughout the year. Anyone interested in joining can call 649 161 290 or visit the website spain@taoist.org
