The Cakery: The Cakery staff is available to take your order by phone at +962 7 77 16 17 17. All orders are for pick-up or delivery only. All items are baked fresh daily and are available in limited quantities, so please consider placing your order in advance. Some of the items on the Menu need to be ordered at least a day in advance (Noted in the Menu). Certain recipes are only available on a seasonal basis (Noted in the Menu). We appreciate any cancellations to be made at least six hours in advance, for big orders we’d appreciate a 48 hours notice. Certain items are presented on The Cakery’s own serving platter. Tips & Tricks Storing Cookies Just in case there are any leftovers, storing The Cakery cookies properly will ensure that you’ll continue to enjoy them just as much as on the day they were delivered. Soft cookies, such as bar cookies, should be stored in an airtight container. To ensure that they don’t dry out, try adding a slice of an apple to the container. Crisp cookies, however, should be stored in a container with a loose lid, like a cookie jar. If there is a lot of humidity in your area, add a piece of bread to the container.
Zesting Citrus Zest is the very outermost skin of any citrus fruit (lime, grapefruit, orange, lemon, etc.) and is useful in recipes because it brings out the fragrant citrus flavor of the fruit. First, be sure to thoroughly wash the fruit, ridding it of any wax coating or impurities. Once washed, you can begin removing the outer, colored layer with a cheese grater, using the smallest holes. Be sure to steer clear of the pith, the white flesh between the outer skin and the fruit, as this will taste extremely bitter. One could also use a potato peeler or a sharp knife, though you would need to then mince to create a zest.
The Perfect Pie Crust No pie is complete without that flaky, buttery, perfect crust. Here’s how… - Keep all your ingredients cold. If at any time during the baking process one of the ingredients warms up, simply place it back in the refrigerator. - Use all-purpose flour. - For the best flavor and flakiness, use a butter that has a higher fat content and low moisture. - Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes, allowing it time to relax and the butter time to chill. This will make it easier to roll out.
Toasting Nuts Toasting Nuts not only brings out their flavor, it makes it easier to remove the skins – especially from hazelnuts. Place the nuts in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat and shake the pan frequently to ensure that none burn. Alternatively, you can place the nuts in a 350°F (175°C) oven. Once the nuts smell fragrant and begin to brown, remove them from the heat. They will continue to brown a bit as they cool.
