What Is Compassion? Compassion literally means ―to suffer together.‖ Among emotion researchers, it is defined as the feeling that arises when you are confronted with another’s suffering and feel motivated to relieve that suffering. The Dalai Lama once said, ―If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.‖ There is hope for the world! If you don’t naturally come off as someone who is a greatly compassionate or empathetic, study prove it’s a habit that can be cultivated.
You act on your compassion. An important part of compassion is giving back, even in the smallest of ways. Performing actions that are loving and compassionate, we experience more love all around us.
