o One of Shakespeare’s earliest and most unchpbeare L vibrant romantic comedies, The Two Gentlemen akes of Verona is a whirlwind adventure of love, desire Sh and disguise – with a few bad guys thrown in for good measure. When two dapper young men from Verona (Valentine and Proteus) head to Milan to broaden their horizons, they fall hopelessly in love with the same girl (Silvia), despite the fact one of the boys (Proteus) is already engaged to another girl (Julia). To complicate matters further, Silvia’s father (the Duke of Milan) wants her to marry an entirely different young gentleman (Thurio), and Proteus’s fiancé (Julia) sneaks off to Milan disguised as a man. Did you follow all that? Oh, there’s also a really funny bit with a dog. A continuation of our popular Lunchbox Shakespeare series, The Two Gentlemen of Verona is performed by our lively Performance Intern Company. And have no fear: dispite a series of calamities, misunderstandings, and unbridled mayhem, love emerges triumphant in the end. The Performance Intern Company is a competitive, summer-long immersion in actor training and performance led by Director of Training Dennis Krausnick and S&Co.’s master teachers.
