Welcome to South Georgia State College, a residential, four-year state college, with small classes and highly qualified faculty and staff who are passionate about learning and student success. Our mission is to provide the foundation you need to become successful in your professional life. We are proud to offer five Bachelor of Science degrees: Biological Sciences, Elementary/Special Education, Long-Term Healthcare Management; Nursing and Management, and one Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Business and Technical Writing. We also offer 19 Associate of Arts and Associate of Science Transfer Pathways leading to baccalaureate degree programs. We stand ready to assist you achieve your goals, no matter which pathway you choose. In addition to our low in-and out-of-state tuition rates, please check out one of the most affordable housing opportunities within the University System of Georgia. Our Douglas Campus residence halls provide a safe and secure home-away-from-home environment with the extra advantage of walking to class, the library and the STEM and Academic Success Centers. A pre-paid meal plan, access to health care when needed, campus organizations, and most important –new found friendships – highlight the advantages of living on campus. Qualified students may apply for Federal and/or State Financial Aid and scholarship assistance through our college-affiliated foundations. Flexible class schedules are available at one of our multiple locations. Online classes and our very popular Dual Enrollment high school program round out the total college experience for students of all ages and stages of their academic career. GET READY TO LIVE IT UP Living on the Douglas Campus puts you right in the middle of the Hawk Nation. Amenities include fully furnished residential suites, private bedroom and semi-private bath, Wi-Fi, study rooms and laundry facilities. A per semester payment includes rent, an allyou-can-eat, buffet-style meal plan and utility fees all rolled into one. The STEM and Academic Success Centers are a short walk from the residence hall, and the “Haulin Hawks” shuttle makes weekly runs to the store or to the Coffee Regional Medical Center clinic as needed. HAWK ATHLETES ROCK! Are you ready to fly? SGSC Hawk athletics program has a rich tradition of successful seasons and bringing home championships. Six athletic teams went on to postseason play last year, and more than 25 student athletes moved on to play at the next level. A member the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association, our athletes not only come from Georgia, but from across the United States and other countries around the world. We offer men’s baseball and basketball, women’s soccer and softball, men’s and women’s cross country and swimming.

The SGSC’s Lady Hawks team sports many international students. Numerous four-year colleges have expressed interest in Lady Hawks players.

S O F T B A L L Several SGSC women graduates have played or are now playing in Division I. The SGSC women’s team won the regional championship and advanced to the NJCAA national championship round in Spring 2018.

SGSC has four NJCAA All Americans. The basketball team has made one NJCAA Tournament appearance.

Ten cross country athletes recieved scholarships during the 2017-2018 school year.

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S S W I M M I N G

The Hawks have made 15 straight postseason appearances including three East Central District appearances in the past six seasons and one World Series berth in 2011.

The SGSC women’s swim team was second in the nation at the NJCAA annual in March 2019 swim meet.

The team ranked as high as 19th nationwide during the 2016-2017 season.

14 SGSC swimmers have signed with four-year colleges and 24 SGSC swimmers are currently receiving scholarships.

Join the increasing number of SGSC students who are actively involved in activities outside of class. Our clubs and organizations provide the opportunity to make new friends and develop future leadership skills. We have almost 30 clubs and organizations from which to choose. Do you want to challenge your friends to a game of pool or ping-pong? Just drop by the Clower Student Life Center on the Douglas Campus or the James M. Dye Student Services Building on the Waycross Campus. If you just want to hang out with friends between classes, you can do that too.

Students may pursue associate degrees in 19 Transfer Pathways, enabling them to transfer into a baccalaureate program, four Bachelor of Science degrees and one Bachelor of Arts degree to prepare them for careers in a variety of fields.

Students seeking state and federal financial aid are encouraged to begin the financial aid process as early as possible.
