Literacy Tools for Families
Early Development Icons These early development instrument icons were created by The Province of Alberta’s Early Child Development Mapping Project to be used as tools for families and educators; “ECMap” gathers and analyses early childhood development information in Alberta and builds community capacity to support families and young children. SGPL is proud to report that three of the five ECMap domains compliment our 2015-2018 plan of service: Creating Young Readers (Language & Thinking); Express Creativity and Enquiry (Communication Skills & General Knowledge); and Participate, Connect and Engage (Social Competence). These icons appear throughout this guide to inform you of the desired skills and outcomes considered while developing SGPL programs and services. SGPL provides a nurturing environment where young children can laugh and play while they learn. www.sgpl.ca
