We are the yeast by Lily Cheng Jesus also used this illustration:
“The Kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.” - Matthew 13:33 My heart is full of gratitude for the way our church body hosted guests and families from the neighbourhood for Easter Brunch and the way in which our volunteer teams served at the We Love Willowdale Community Dinner on the one year anniversary of the Toronto Van Attack. My prayer is that we would be the yeast described in Matthew 13:33. Yeast is small but mighty in impact when kneaded into dough. According to FineCooking.com yeast not only causes dough to rise, it also strengthens the dough and gives it flavour. This is a wonderful analogy to how we can be agents of change that bring the flavour and strength of the Kingdom to the world around us. One family in North York Moms said:
“The whole event was fantastic and filled with warmth, our sincere thanks as a family for making our first North York event and visit to the church such a great one.”
