SERTUS CREATING CERTAINTY

Instructions for Use 1.

Click on the Sertus short cut icon (created on your desktop if you installed with default options, or go to Start -> All Programs -> Sertus -> Sertus.

2.

Once the application starts, you can either Drag and Drop files into it, or you can select File->Load Pre-change File or File->load Post-Change File.

Sertus expects the following file format:

HOSTNAME>command <………..command output goes here………> ……… ………. ………. HOSTNAME>

It is important for Sertus to pick up the hostname, Sertus will initially look for the “>” or the “$” or the “#”. Once Sertus finds the hostname, it will use this to identify the start and end of commands. This is usually the cause of most issues as users may have the delimiters within the file.

This can also be overcome by adjusting the Cursorpositionmax variable in the sertus.ini file. WARNING: Do not adjust any other values in the Sertus.ini file without help from Sertus support.

Sertus can handle the pagination usually associated with router output e.g. the “more -------“lines. Additionally Sertus will carry out the UNIX to Dos conversion. Remember that Sertus was created by engineers to improve quality and reduce workload so you can normally take the output of a router and drop it directly into Sertus without any manipulation.

Files can either be manually captured or you can make use of the Scripting tool in Sertus (usage is detailed in Sertus Scripter, earlier in the document).

3.

If you want to use the scripting to obtain the data, use the Sertus Console. You can either manually enter the username and password in the connection details (if you click on save, this will save all the details, including the Server Authentication details (SSH authentication details)).
