History wiki Local Republicans visit chronicles county state GOP convention By Harrison Keely EDITOR

The goal is simple: To provide a living history of Clay County. It's a book of records that doesn't face a page limit and isn't limited to one author. The Clay County History Wiki is an extensive project being provided by the Sentinel in the interest of preserving history as it takes place. You may be familiar with "Wikipedia," the comprehensive online encyclopedia. The term "Wiki" is Hawaiian for fast, easily lending the word to an quicklyeditable online database. The Clay County History Wiki is aims to involve every citizen of Clay County, by inviting all to share their knowledge on the site. Already, Clay County Historian Carl Moore has provided the material from his recent history book to the project, contributing to the records and history digitally available to the public. The new wiki offers information not found elsewhere, even in state records, such as a digital list of graduating classes from Hayesville High School dating back to 1915. School sports records and timelines are also available. For instance, say a new student breaks the long jump record SEE HISTORY, PAGE 7A

Tickets for gift baskets help provide support A woman walks in and eyes a postcard stand in the corner. Taking her time, she regards the cards, one by one, as if determining the value of each individually. “How much are the postcards? she asks, picking one up and holding it at eye level. “We just got them set up; will you help me decide? responds Dorothy Eldridge. Five for a dollar? Possibly, but that still sounds too high. The woman replaces the postcard in the stack and explains her situation. She runs the postcard ministry for shut-ins from her church. A dime then. A dime a postcard. Dorothy Eldridge has the job of pricing every single item on sale at Moss Memorial Library. When Town and Country Pharmacy closed last year, the items left within the vacant store lingered. Owner Anita Lance made the decision to donate the remaining inventory to the Hayesville library.

St. Luke, the study is based on the 26 stories of Jesus’ healing recorded in the Gospels, and is intended to help understand the ways Jesus prayed for healing. These healings varied from physical cures to people being set free from spiritual oppression. Participants will learn to pray for one another as Jesus prayed. The Rev. John Rice, Pastor, welcomes the community to attend this very important class on biblical healing. The classes will be co-led by seminarian Claire Wimbush.
