SHRRP Weatherization
Pam Garcia sits in her living room under a blanket while members of the Senior Housing Repair & Replacement Program team add weather stripping to her door.
As Rito Lopez from SHRRP chats with her, he notices that Pam’s floors feel a little spongy, “We may to need to replace these floors soon,” he said.
Pam has been living in her home for more than 25 years. When her ability to walk became impaired a few years ago, SHRRP stepped in to make her home more accessible.
“They widened my doors, put in a handicap bathroom and an entrance ramp,” said Pam. “It’s great because my home is so far off the ground and they did it in a way that let me keep my porch deck, which I love.”
Today, the SHRRP is preparing Pam’s home for the chillier weather by making sure her heater coils are clean and the fluids are at the right levels. They are also working to eliminate leaks around her doors and windows.
“Weatherizing not only helps to keep homes warmer and saves on energy bills, it also prevents critters that are looking for someplace warm from coming into the home,” said Rito. “We want seniors to know that we are here to help keep them warm, safe and healthy.”
Pam is certainly pleased with the services she has received from SHRRP over the years, “Working with them is a really good experience. Their service is great and their new customer service administrators keep you in the loop about your project. I appreciate them so much.”
In addition to weatherizing homes, SHRRP provides a variety of other services to qualified community residents. These can include complex renovations and retrofitting of interiors to meet health or safety need such as, but not limited to:
• Kitchen Cabinets
• Flooring
• Handicap Bathrooms
• Ramps
• Exterior Door Covers
• Roofing
SHRRP also provides day-to-day services that seniors and those with adaptive and medical needs may find challenging such as changing air filters or programming thermostats.

Qualified individuals must be members of the community, age 55+ or qualify with medical disability, and have a home condition that detrimentally affects the individual’s health, welfare or safety.
