Dear Parents,

In this ever-changing world in which we now live, today’s students need an educational approach that will provide them the necessary tools to successfully navigate current and future challenges they will face. SPH PV partners with parents in this most important endeavour of educating their children by utilising a dynamic and authentic approach to learning in a safe and caring environment where students can flourish. From a play-based approach in the Kindergarten years to project-based learning opportunities through the Cambridge International curriculum in junior, middle and senior school, our holistic education prepares students for success in each stage of their learning. As a Christian school that puts Christ at the center of everything, SPH PV provides genuine opportunities for students to grow in their own personal faith. We love to see our students develop faith, character and leadership skills as they learn to serve those around them and make a difference in their world. Our teachers are all accredited and welltrained in their fields of expertise. We have a complimentary balance of expatriate and national (Indonesian) teachers who provide a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students. We would love to talk with you more about how we can help your children reach their goals for the future by joining our caring Christian school community.

SPH SERVICE

SPH SUPPORT

Our strong sense of community, strengthened by spiritual foundation, guides SPH service-oriented activities initiated by both students and parents. These activities, called Mission Service Learning (MSL), serve as testament to Christian faith in action. Students learn by immediately applying what they have been taught by serving and meeting the needs of other people.

The SPH Way involves high levels of support to ensure student growth and give them a platform to make a difference in the world. At SPH Pluit Village, we offer excellent learning programs for evaluating and assisting student learning and behavior needs.

MSL instills an attitude of service to others while connecting learning with real world scenarios. The activities enrich experience since students are encouraged to think and act beyond the classroom and into the larger world. Actual community engagement enhances students’ generosity, leadership, critical thinking and organizational skills which lead to responsibility, accountability, empathy and social awareness.

12

Learning Support Team (LST) We aim to assist learners who struggle with the everyday demands of learning and navigating academic outcomes. We focus on English and Mathematics as our learners are all multi-lingual and we want them to flourish in their comprehension and expression of the English language. We work with learners in groups and one on one, as the need arises, and we assist Homeroom Teachers in their classroom settings to achieve learning targets.

SPH FAMILY SPH promotes a strong sense of community wherein students, parents, faculty and staff form a cohesive family. Our community embraces parents whose involvement help make SPH better as they are consulted in the learning process. Parents become part of a strong and established SPH family wherein we get to know and work with each one personally.

Another unique school program refers to the Parent Advisory Group (PAG), which consists of parents representing each grade level called Class Parent Representatives (CPR). The PAG bridges all parents and the SPH faculty through meetings and seminars. Through PAG, all parents have a communication platform for constructive input on school programs and policies.

SPH Pluit Village has an active Parenting Program to equip parents on Christian care and training of their children.

Learning Pathway LE ARN, DISCOVE R, ACHIE VE

SPH Pluit Village follows the international Cambridge curriculum wherein students acquire the knowledge and skills they need to achieve at school, university and beyond. We infuse these globally recognized standards with Christ-centered and bible-based approaches for a unique learning system that meets student needs. The Cambridge curriculum, which is flexible, challenging and inspiring, culturally sensitive but international in approach, flows through three stages:  Primary (Early Childhood – Grade 5)  Lower Secondary (Grades 6 – 8)  IGCSE (Grades 9 – 10) Each stage builds on the students’ development and emphasizes on mastering subjects in line with developing skills for study and future career. By valuing in-depth knowledge of subjects, the curriculum helps students establish connections among different aspects of the subjects. Cambridge encourages your child to develop higher-order thinking skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving, independent research, communication, collaboration, reflection, and innovation and creative thinking. The Cambridge program prepares students for life.

15

PLAY-BASED LEARNING

Early Childhood Education SPH Pluit Village’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) program focuses on a play-based learning approach wherein we integrate subjects through hands-on activities. By involving all senses when learning new concepts, youngsters become aware of their environment and learn best by doing. We allow them to learn at their own pace through structured, free-thinking and exploratory activities. This encourages young learners to ask questions, try to solve problems on their own and think creatively. SPH Pluit Village facilitates the entire learning process according to a broad concept outline. This allows youngsters to freely explore a variety of activities and develop holistically.

16

BROAD & BALANCED EDUCATION

Cambridge Primary & Lower Secondary The Primary and Lower Secondary form part of the Cambridge learning pathway and each stage leads seamlessly into the next. Cambridge developed Primary (Grades 1 – 5) and Lower Secondary (Grades 6 – 8) as a single curriculum from stages 1 to 9. Each stage builds on the learner’s development from the previous one or from other educational systems.

SPH shares similar views to Cambridge that education works best when curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment work in unison. Assessments both prove and improve students’ learning, giving them focus, pace and challenge.

The Primary and Lower Secondary curriculum prepares students for the next stage by developing understanding and skills across each program. It includes a set of learning objectives that provide a structure for teaching and learning, and a reference to check students’ attainment and skills. Since the Cambridge pathway allows flexibility among a wide range of subjects, SPH Pluit Village shaped the curriculum to make it exciting and relevant for your child. Students pursue deeper learning in the subjects they’re best at. Each students fulfill their potential and make the most of their God-given strengths and interests.

LEANER-CENTERED & PROJECT BASED

Cambridge Upper Secondary Cambridge Upper Secondary applies to students ages 14 to 16 and it builds on the foundations established from Cambridge Lower Secondary, although students do not necessarily have to complete that stage before taking this one. Under this learning stage for Grades 9 and 10, students prepare for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations.

IGCSE strengthens broad and balanced studies across a wide range of subjects, using leaner-centered and inquirybased approaches to learning. Students develop skills in creative thinking, inquiry and problem solving. Assessments consist of oral tests, courseworks and practical evaluations. IGCSE consists of a two-year program leading to established, marked and certificated examinations by the University of Cambridge. Students taking IGCSE gain qualifications recognised globally. Since these established qualifications keep pace with educational developments and trends, it serves as an ideal foundation for higher level courses such as AS and A Levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP).
