Taking place in the centre of the world’s most northerly capital, Reykjavík. We’re hosting the most unique music festival on Earth, where the sun never sets for the entire 96 hours of the weekend! ESSENTIAL INFO Make sure you bring the following with you to the festival: • Your festival ticket, either as a hard copy or on your phone. You will need to have the bar-code to be able to get your wristband, so this is crucial! Please note that there will be no wifi by the main gate, so don’t forget to take a screenshot before you get to the site. • Bring photo ID if you want to consume alcohol - remember the legal drinking age in Iceland is 20 years old. • Credit Card/Cash - We recommend using credit cards on-site but we do accept cash and there will be an ATM on-site. Please don’t bring the following prohibited items with you to the festival: • Illegal substances of any kind (including research chemicals, novel psychoactive substances (NPS), designer drugs, nitrous oxide and herbal highs). • Professional photography and/or videography equipment without a media pass (detachable professional zoom lenses, stands or other commercial equipment). • Weapons of any kind (including items that can be mistaken for weapons). • Containers (glass, metal, plastic or coolers of any kind). • Outside food or beverages (including alcohol) of any kind, except 2 factory sealed bottles of water (up to 1 liter each). • Drones, skateboards, bikes, fireworks, graffiti or painting supplies. • Tents, chairs, or hammocks, unless you are staying in the campsite. FESTIVAL INFO GETTING HERE SECRET SOLSTICE is located next to the centre of Reykjavik and nearby most major hotels, hostels and other private accommodation in the city. A taxi from downtown to the festival site will only cost you around 1400kr, or you can take in the views and walk there in under 20 minutes, depending on where you’re staying. PARKING There is no on-site festival parking available for guests but alternative parking can be found a few minutes walk from the festival site, across the road from the Laugardalsvöllur National Stadium. KÁTT Á SOLSTICE (Children’s Area) We love kids at Secret Solstice, which is why all children under 10 years of age get in for free when accompanied by a ticket holding adult! With Kátt á Solstice or Fun at Solstice hosting a variety of exciting activities like face painting, temporary tattoos, special baby yoga and great musical activities such as beat boxing, there’s something for children of all ages. TICKETING & ENTRY PURCHASING TICKETS You can purchase festival passes via our ticketing agents Tix.is, subject to availability. Simply head to www.tix.is, purchase a pass, and then print it out to bring to the festival site. Limited tickets may also be available to purchase at the festival gate during the event, however we can’t guarantee availability so recommend buying your pass in advance before they’re all gone. CHILD TICKETS Children under 10 can attend for free as long as they are accompanied by a fully paying guardian who is over the age of 20. In order to qualify for free entry, they must be 10 years old during the festival. Children between 11 and 17 must pay for a full adult ticket, and must also be accompanied by a guardian over the age of 20. Anyone who is 18 or over can attend as an adult, but must be over 20 to purchase or consume alcohol (in line with Icelandic law) PROOF OF AGE WRISTBAND To avoid being asked for ID every time you buy a drink we recommend going to customer info at the festival and picking up a ‘Proof of age’ wristband. EXCHANGING TICKETS All tickets are non transferable except by authorised agents. Secondary ticketing markets often exploit customers and we would advise you only use authorised ticket vendors/agents. TICKETS NOT ARRIVED With queries relating to your tickets please contact the ticket agency you purchased them from. CHANGES TO TICKETS If you have any changes to your tickets or need advice on what to do with your ticket if you can need longer attend, this will need to be done through the ticketing agent that you purchased with.
VIP TICKETS VIP BENEFITS VIP ticket holders can access all VIP bars on the festival site, receive a physical program on entry to the event; access priority service areas at certain bars; get exclusive discounts at Reykjavík bars and restaurants and receive fast-track entry to Hel after-hours arena. ÓÐINN BENEFITS Limited to only 50 tickets, the Óðinn (Odin) pass is the ultimate way to experience our 2017 event. With exclusive entry to private artist bars, Óðinn concierge, open bar, food, drink, and so much more, there’s no other ticket at Secret Solstice like it! DISCOUNTS FOR VIP/ ODINN TICKET HOLDERS If you are a VIP, or Óðinn ticketholder at Secret Solstice 2017, you will receive select discounts at bars, stores and restaurants around Reykjavík during Secret Solstice 2017. Simply show your wristband to redeem. Please note that in the case of vendors that are on-site as well as in Reykjavík (for example Prikið), you will only receive the discount in the physical bar/restaurant, not at their stall on the festival site. You will find a list of discounts in the festival guide available on-site and in our official festival app. TICKET UPGRADES You can upgrade your existing Secret Solstice 2017 pass to a higher-level pass (for example, standard ticket to VIP pass) at the main gate. The fee will be the difference between the price of your current pass, and the price of the pass you’re upgrading to. Keep in mind that this is subject to availability and we will be unable to upgrade your ticket if the pass level you want is sold out. VIP BARS VIP bars are available at the festival site with access only for guests with VIP or Óðinn wristbands. These have been lavishly decked out for the perfect place to chill out during the event.
SIDE EVENTS & OFF-SITE ACTIVITIES GENERAL INFO At Secret Solstice we’re not just known for our amazing festival, but also for our groundbreaking side parties. We’ve hosted the world’s only event inside a glacier and lava tunnel, a midnight sun boat party in the Atlantic and more. All so you can customise your festival weekend experience however you want to. These events are small and exclusive so make sure you book in advance at secretsolstice.is SIDE EVENT TRANSPORT & TIMING All side events have the same departure location. This is outside the Laugardalsvöllur National Stadium, around a 100m walk to the north of our festival’s main gate. OFFICIAL MERCHANDISE Secret Solstice will have two official merchandise stores on the festival site, where you can purchase official festival merchandise, as well as other items from key acts playing at the event. Please check the official festival map on the back of this program for locations.
CAMPING THE CAMPSITE Every person on the campsite will need to have a camping wristband, which you will need to collect at the camping gate. Please note that it is strictly one camping pass per person, not per tent. Nobody except those with a camping pass will be allowed on the campsite for the duration of the event. Campers must bring their own equipment, unless you have purchased a pre-pitched tent via our partner Rent-A-Tent. We ask all campers to remember that the campsite borders on a residential area, and that during late hours we request noise is kept to a minimum. We currently do not have the facilities to accommodate live-in vehicles, but there are many campsites in the local area that are suitable.
RENT-A-TENT If you’re camping and don’t want to bring your own camping gear, our partner Rent-A-Tent will save the hassle of traveling with heavy equipment. With low prices and no effort on your part, book via rentatent. is or via the Rent-A-Tent button on our official website. TICKETS We have five types of camping tickets available: • Standard Camping Pass – This ticket will give you a pitch on the festival campsite. You are responsible for providing your own tent • Classic Tent - This ticket will give you a pre-pitched, 3 person tent on the festival campsite • Superior Tent - This ticket will give you a pre-pitched, 6-8 person superior tent on the festival campsite • Junior Suite - This ticket will give you a pre-pitched, 8 person tent on the festival campsite • Presidential suite – This ticket will give you a pre-pitched, 2-4 person tent on the festival campsite, and includes electricity, sprung beds, duvets, pillows, tickets to the local swimming pool and complimentary soft drinks on arrival The rental period is from Thursday 15 June, 9:00AM to Monday 19 June, 2:00PM. Equipment hire is also available for all tent options, and more details can be found here: rentatent.is FACILITIES In the campsite you will have access to showers, running water and toilets. CAMPSITE SAFETY Campers are allowed to bring up to 220g gas canisters only. Disposable BBQs may be used, but only in the fire lanes / designated BBQ area. No campfires are allowed anywhere on the campsite. We want to make sure all campers are aware of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs when gas or charcoal (or any similar fuels) fail to fully combust due to a lack of oxygen in their surroundings. There is a higher risk of carbon monoxide poisoning when campers cook inside tents, or leave a gas burner on inside the tent for heat. Carbon monoxide is undetectable by smell or taste and inhalation can be fatal. In smaller doses, carbon monoxide can cause symptoms similar to flu or food poisoning. Symptoms to look out for include dizziness, headache, nausea and drowsiness. To avoid accidents; follow these simple rules: • NEVER cook inside a tent or enclosed camping spaces. If you need a sheltered cooking area, consider a gazebo or a tent porch with sufficient air circulation and ventilation. • NEVER use gas stoves/fuel burners to heat your tent when cold. All gas-powered items need plenty of ventilation to prevent the production of carbon monoxide gas. To stay warm, make sure you layer your clothing and pick up a warmer sleeping bag. • NEVER operate petrol/diesel-powered engines in confined/enclosed spaces.
ACCESSIBILITY Secret Solstice works to provide access for all on our site. However, there are certain things that need to
be considered before you book your ticket. We provide a 2 for 1 ticket scheme for individuals who would be unable to attend our events without bringing a personal assistant or carer. You will need to contact info@secretsolstice.is in advance of the show to arrange this. VIEWING PLATFORM WRISTBAND A viewing platform with a stewarded accessible toilet is located near the stage in the Main Arena. In order to gain access to the viewing platform, you need a viewing platform wristband. Your personal assistant or carer can also join you on the platform. OTHER SERVICES When arranged in advance, we welcome assistance dogs on-site. Contact info@secretsolstice.is for further information. We also have accessible toilets available in the arena and at the viewing platform. There will be medical services available in the main arena should you require any scooter charging or medication storage then we are able to assist with this. Secret Solstice is a festival everyone should experience and whilst we try our best to accommodate everyone at our event, due to the nature of land, our site is uneven, and there are only certain routes that offer tarmacked roads that are suitable for those with accessibility requirements. The weather conditions can also dramatically affect the ground conditions, so wherever possible please try to consider what preparations you may need to make and what equipment you may need to bring along. Should any of our accessible services be required, please ensure you email the team at info@secretsolstice. is in advance of the show so we can provide you with further information on how to make your weekend safe and enjoyable.
ON-SITE SAFETY SECURITY As a festival, we take your safety very seriously. On-site you will find our wonderful security team who are there to look after you. Please approach them with any issues, ask them any questions and request help with anything you may need. They are happy to help. As well as the security team, our stewards are experts in providing information, directions and generally being a helping hand whenever you might need them. Both teams are instantly recognisable as they will be wearing high-visibility jackets.
MEDICAL AND WELFARE On-site we have both a medical centre and a welfare facility. Both are staffed with fully trained workers that are there to help with anything from blisters to more serious medical emergencies. We also work closely with the local hospitals to ensure the best facilities are provided for all attendees. If you ever feel ill at any point during the festival, please approach any member of staff and we will help you.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY A CARBON NEUTRAL EVENT Secret Solstice is proud to be certified CarbonNeutral® event in 2017. This has been achieved through a verified carbon offset plan, as well as all on-site energy needs for production and sound being provided by 100% renewable geothermal power. On top of this, we’ve partnered with forward-thinking brands like Toyota Iceland who have provided us with hybrid vehicles and Icelandic Glacial Water, who assist us with a comprehensive recycling plan on-site. RECYCLING ON SITE We have a dedicated recycling team at the Secret Solstice 2017 site, as well as recyclable bins provided by Icelandic GlacialTM Water. We ask that you help us leave the smallest impact on the environment possible, by recycling as much as you can during our 2017 event. THE SECRET SOLSTICE TOYOTA AURIS On display next to the front gate at Secret Solstice 2017, you’ll find our custom Auris hybrid provided by Toyota Iceland. Through the use of hybrid vehicles on our festival site, we’re able to lower our carbon footprint more than if we solely used non-hybrid petrol or diesel vehicles.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Do you sell day tickets? Due to the incredible value of our weekend tickets, we will not be selling day tickets to the festival this year. We do however sell tickets for entry to the Opening Ceremony on Thursday 15 June only. Can I come to the Opening Ceremony with my existing festival ticket? Because we love all our customers, we added an Opening Ceremony on Thursday 15 June. If you have a weekend festival ticket then you are also able to attend this event for free, even if your ticket says the 16 – 18 June on the front!
Can I come to the Hel after-parties with my existing festival ticket?
Every night after the main festival closes, we host an after-party in Hel, about 200m from the main entrance of the festival. This is included in your festival ticket price (entry to Hel after-parties is not included with tickets purchased for the Opening Ceremony only). Our after-parties are popular events and capacity is limited so make sure you get there early, as entry is not guaranteed. Is the event outdoors? The festival is all on grass and outdoors, so please dress for the weather! What is the drinking age in Iceland? The legal age for drinking in Iceland is 20 years old. Anyone below this is age is not permitted to purchase or drink alcohol in Iceland. What ID do you accept? We will accept photographic forms of ID such as driving license, passport, or official citizenship cards. We also accept Icelandic bankcards with photo ID. Can you bring alcohol into the arena? We have arranged lots of great bars for you to get drinks from during the festival. Therefore it is not permitted to bring any outside alcohol on-site. Will I be searched? To ensure your safety and so that all ticket holders have a fun time at the event, we will be conducting searches as part of the conditions of entry for all festival goers. Please cooperate with our friendly staff so you can enter as quickly as possible. What is the currency? Iceland uses its own currency called the Króna, which you can exchange most foreign currencies for at all local banks or Bureau de Exchange. Is there a cash machine on-site? There will be a cash machine available but we also accept all major cards at the bars and merchandise stall. Is it cold in June? This time of year tends to be pretty mild so you should be fine with light protective clothing. Icelandic weather can be very temperamental so just in case you should bring clothes for most situations. For the most up-to-date information pay attention to the weather forecast and consider what you want to do during your stay. Will there be somewhere to store valuables? Unfortunately we don’t have any lockers on site, so would advise you don’t bring anything too valuable to the festival. Is there anywhere to charge my phone?
Currently, we don´t have phone charging facilities on site. However, our vendors stock fully charged solar packs so you are covered if you get caught short! What is your drug policy? Like most festivals, we have a zero tolerance policy for illegal drugs and the misuse of prescription drugs. We aim to protect our festival goers and work with the City of Reykjavik Police to actively pursue anyone suspected of supplying prohibited drugs. What is your policy on legal highs? Due to recent changes in legislation and information on these substances, we do not allow any research chemicals, novel psychoactive substances (NPS), designer drugs, nitrous oxide or herbal highs into the event. Is the festival safe for kids? The festival is safe and we have many families attending. All under 18s must be accompanied by a fully paying guardian over the age of 20 who will be responsible for them for the duration of the festival. We have a dedicated kids area with changing facilities and family activities. We encourage all guardians to ensure their child is wearing one of our Kids wristbands Please clearly label the band with a contact number and emergency contact in case the two of you become separated. You can pick up the Kids wristband from the main gate or customer info. Can I bring an animal? Only approved guide-dogs are permitted during the festival. I have lost something! If you lose anything during the event then we have a Lost Property facility at the Customer Info tent. If you don’t realise until after the festival, you can contact lostandfound@secretsolstice.is to check if your item has been handed in. Please note that we only will keep items for seven days after the festival. How can I contact Secret Solstice during the festival? The best way to contact us during the festival is by email on info@secretsolstice.is. We also have a dedicated helpline number (+354) 7661343 that will be open from Wednesday 14 - Sunday 19 June, from 11:30AM to 11:30PM but if you want a fast response we recommend getting in touch via email.
