A Word from the Endowment Board President

Second Presbyterian Church is blessed in many ways thanks to the generosity of our Congregation. One of the most significant of those blessings is the Second Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund.

Created in 1923 by forward thinking Second members, the Endowment has served both the Church and the community for 100 years, providing important funding to maintain our beautiful building, and to sustain efforts to serve our neighbors in need.

Through the years, the Endowment has benefited from the leadership and counsel of its board members who nurtured its growth to its present size. Today the Endowment plays a significant role in supporting our annual budget, and is a source of funding for important programs such as the Northside Mission Food Pantry, CenterPoint Counseling, Music and Fine Arts, the Lake Fellow and Footsteps of

A Reflection from the Senior Pastor

2022 was a year of return, renewal, and reengagement in community for Second Presbyterian Church following the challenges of the Pandemic. It was the right time for creative thinking and the perfect moment to reimagine our ministries and mission to meet emerging priorities. It was a time to listen, learn, and Grow Together.

One of the important ways that Second continues to grow and to remain vibrant and responsive to our Church and community needs is through the Second Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund. Each year the Endowment provides 15-18% of our annual budget income and supports programs and services that are meaningful to our members, the broader community, and our neighbors in need in Washington Township and beyond.

This year, we celebrate and give thanks for the first one hundred years of our Endowment and its extraordinary impact. Over the last century, Second Presbyterian has not been immune to the ups and downs of broader society. On the contrary, the congregation has experienced them fully. Through them all, from the Great Depression to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Second has been engaged in significant and faithful ministry. By God’s grace, we have been able to respond with courage to Christ’s call to serve those who are suffering, vulnerable, and in need.

I doubt that the founders of our Endowment could have imagined the scope of its impact today. It is an honor to be part of a congregation that is so compassionate, visionary, and generous; a community of leaders that embraces its responsibility to use our Endowment resources wisely and faithfully.

Thank you for your continued generosity and for your thoughtful investments in the future of Second Presbyterian Church.

With Gratitude,

Rev. Christopher A. Henry

We look forward to creating many more memories!
