AA hosts one of college basketball’s most prestigious tournaments every Thanksgiving week when it brings three Division I squads north for the GCI Great Alaska Shootout. For the 36th women’s tourney in 2016, the Seawolves will welcome Missouri State, Portland and Southern California. With six Shootout championships, Division II UAA has established an unprecedented level of success against its D-I competition, including an amzing string of four straight titles from 2006-09. SEAWOLF GIANT KILLERS

Beginning with a 74-52 victory over Nevada in 1980, the Seawolves

have a strong tradition of success against the giants of NCAA Division I basketball. UAA has a total of 38 wins over 33 programs, including such powers as Clemson, Wake Forest and Santa Clara. In the last 10 seasons, the Seawolves are 13-6 against D-I compeitition, including wins over Big East foes Syracuse and Cincinnati. Last year, UAA delivered a resounding 94-61 win over Pepperdine in the first round of the GCI Great Alaska Shootout.
