Margie Livingston - Poured, Sliced, and Draped Opening reception: First Thursday, June 5, 6-8pm Artist talk: Saturday, June 7 at noon

The work in this exhibition relates to the artist’s permanent monumental outdoor sculpture recently commissioned by the Tacoma Art Museum for its new Haub Family Wing, opening this autumn. One of the works in the show will feature the arched column design of the Tacoma commission. The show will also include blanket tapestries, stitched samplers, an aromatic cedar sculpture of blankets, a column made of a vertical steel I-beam stacked with blankets, and small cast bronze and iron works relating to stones and fishing weights. During Watt’s open-to-the-community sewing circle directly following the June 7th artist talks, people are invited to stay and sew on Watt’s upcoming projects. She is also encouraging the community to donate blankets and their blanket stories to become part of the Tacoma Art Museum project. These blankets will be transformed into cast bronze in the final sculpture.
