SCHOOLS NEWTON PRIMARY SCHOOL

This summer has been hugely successful for the Newton Primary School basketball team which finished the season unbeaten. The squad has showed a very high level of team spirit and commitment in weekly training and local matches. The team played consistently well every week to win the Porthcawl Schools League and also the Bridgend Basketball Blitz Cup competition. The final achievement came when the school won the Bridgend Championships beating the winners of the other leagues within the County Borough. The school has never achieved this before. The squad included Will Strading (Captain), Tom Tweedy, Spencer Morgan, Imran Azam, Blake Jones, Jay Sheen, Josie Lewis, Harriet Williams, Alina Biju, Bethan Owen, Lucy Griffiths and Grace Lloyd. We are very proud of this set of players and hope they will continue to play basketball as part of their journey through comprehensive school. Henley Jenkins Teacher / Team Coach
