Hannigans

Family Butcher

A perfect example of this adaptability is master butcher, David Hannigan, who has just opened up a retail unit in Centra in River Valley. David is already well known as the proprietor of the hugely successful Hannigan’s Butchers in Applewood Village and is hoping to replicate this success in the busy River Valley outlet. David spoke passionately about his work ethic and what he hopes to bring to shoppers in Centra. “I am here in Applewood for the past eight years and have worked very hard to build up the business to where it is today. I will bring quality, value and a 7 days a week service to the new shop, which will complement the already superb service provided by Centra.” He also spoke about the diverse population of Swords and how he plans to cater for all shoppers. “I will bring the unique Hannigan branded products, which are suitable for

“Our pork comes from Cavan, our beef from Kildare, our chicken is from Mayo and our succulent lamb comes from the hills of Donegal,” a proud David said. He is utterly dedicated to his trade and it is no surprise that his Applewood shop continues to thrive, even in recessionary times. He is very strict about providing the freshest, highest quality product to all of his valued customers. “I have always done so and my

loyal customers in Applewood, whom I wish to thank so much for their patronage over the years, are a testament to this.” A family man, David is married to Celine and they have two daughters, Chantelle and Shauna, all of whom work in Applewood and a son called David. It is expected that Chantelle will move to the River Valley branch in the near future. “My son plays for Home Farm Football club and I like to try and see him as much as possible, but as I work 7 days a week, it is not too easy to spare the time,” he said. Hannigan's are also involved in the wholesale business and provide meat products for some local hotels, restaurants and care homes and are constantly

trying to expand the business. A hard working and motivated man, David vows to ensure that Centra customers will view his service as a one stop shop for all their meat requirements. “I worked 7 days a week to ensure that our Applewood shop became the success that it is, and I

intend to do the same in River Valley. The friendly and professional staff in both outlets, allied to a motivation to provide excellent food, great choice and value for money are all indicators that David’s latest venture will lead to continuing success for this enterprising businessman.

He is a member of the Association of Craft Butchers of Ireland, which has the highest standard of butchery in Ireland. “Craft butchers are much sought after and our move to River Valley is testament to this. Mark Leavy, proprietor of Centra already provides an excellent service to the community and he has been particularly generous to me. I intend to enhance this top quality service still further.” The atmosphere in the shop is very conducive to a good working relationship. “Mark and his team couldn’t have been more friendly and supportive to us in our new venture,” maintains David. An indication of his total commitment is that he has on going ‘Specials’ every week which are bound to attract great attention from 'choosey' shop-
