COMMUNITY Super Soul Swap Meet By Darrel Wheeler Contributing Writer On the second Saturday of this month, October 9, the traveling Soul Swap Meet set up shop at MLK Park. A variety of vendors and a host of customers played “Let’s Make a Deal” and were able to eat good smelling food. They also were able to listen to the local DJ work his magic, with the audience being treated to live entertainment.
The Soul Swap Meet had a low-key family get together and a ‘Dave & Buster’s meets the garment district and cook-off ’ kind of a vibe.

“I love the Soul Swap Meet!” said Big Mack of Mack’s Soul Food. “I’ve been involved for about a year now. I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for consumers who are looking for unique items and some good food. It gives vendors a chance to display their goods and in my case, the perfect place to introduce our awesome BBQ.” “You can’t beat the cool atmosphere and people supporting each other out here today; you gotta love it,” Big Mack said.
Balboa’s Raiders Remain Undefeated By Darrel Wheeler Contributing Writer It was business as usual for the dominating Raiders as they made easy work of their match against the Skyline (12-U) Tigers with a win of 40-0, advancing their record to 6-0 undefeated games. The Raiders are the frontrunners in their division using a massive offensive and defensive line, speed, and team-cohesion. “This team has been together for a long time. We have put in the work and it shows now,” shared Assistant Raiders coach Donald Hicks.
It’s hard to lose with some of the ballers they use; Diego Mendoza, Jaylen Piers, Mekhi Oluwa, Jayden Hunter, Jamari Sherrel, Jayden Johnson, Arieon Hicks, and Noah McCurty were among the star players that put the raid down last Saturday on John Shacklett D. Field at Morse High School.

“We are the best team in San Diego because we play together as a team and we work hard,” said Raider Jaylen Pires.
The Raiders are the team to beat in the 12-U division. Next up, they will play against their arch rivals, the always tough Corey Thomsonled Los Toros Bulls.
