Dakota Life: Summer Fun This month Dakota Life reflects on summer attractions throughout the state. We’ll travel to Mitchell for the 6th Annual South Dakota Cornhole State Championships. Cornhole, also known as bean bag toss, is a lawn game popular with young and old. We also go to Pierre and visit with South Dakota grade schoolers attending Archaeology Camp. A program of the South Dakota State Historical Society’s Historic Preservation Office, the three-day camp includes plenty of history, archaeological digs, processing artifacts and practicing with atlatl – ancient precursors to bow and arrows. And we paddle down the Missouri River with Kelly Lane, the wellknown kayak guide with Parkinson’s, during the South Dakota Kayak Challenge.
