amazing talent of the broadcast. We will forever listen to the radio with awe at the coordination that it takes to make a program sound so seamless! Everyone was SO friendly and welcoming. WE felt like celebrities! Sue Scott, Tim Russell and Fred Newman sought us out saying ‘Are you the folks from South Dakota!?’ We chatted with Garrison about our multi-generation family farm. It was surreal! Singing “Silent Night” together as
an audience was a beautiful way to celebrate the holidays. And the St. Paul Hotel was gorgeous! If you ever have a chance to stay there, do! We are so thankful for this little weekend getaway date (Grandma and Grandpa had fun hanging out with our 1 ½ year old boy). What a treat! Thanks SDPB!” You’re welcome, Nick & Jessica! The couples’ weekend package was made possible by A Prairie Home Companion, American Public Media, the St. Paul Hotel, and Friends of SDPB.

Dakota Life features Vermillion’s Jenny Martz Peterson and her incredible journey of losing her sight from a rare medical reaction only to regain it 34 years later. Author of the book She Walked by Faith, Peterson and her family discuss her hard work providing a normal, supportive home to her husband and children despite the obstacles. The program also visits Anna Lena Wonnenberg of Wakonda. As a third grader, Wonnenberg won the Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest, in which she discussed wanting to travel the world. Years later, Wonnenberg pursued her dreams by becoming a Peace Corp volunteer in Kosovo. Watch to see how Wonnenberg made that dream a reality. We also learn about country cook Verna Knapp, whose overflowing recipe book and quirky anecdotes surpass the tests of time.
