GENERAL CONCLUSIONS ON MANAGEMENT (OR FUTURE OF MANAGEMENT) We have concluded that: •Management is not a systematic approach. •To manage anything, including a project, like this one, the manager needs to adapt to fast changing environments and apply resistance to change techniques. •We believe that the future of management would change due to new research in behavioral neuroscience.

REFLECTIONS INDIVIDUAL Samuel’s Reflection • With this project, I have considered that it is useful to learn how to work in groups. Thus, the project has shown us to work in integration to collaborate efficiently and effectively. I have learned that planning is a vital aspect in the organization, but it is not a frozen aspect of it. The fact that changes occur, either by external or internal factors, make us consider the three stages of the psychologist Kurt Lewin: unfreezing, movement, and refreezing.1

Adam’s Reflection • Our group project gave me a lot of insight into how much variety there is in a manager’s job and how important structure and organization are. From the outside, management may seem instinctual or obvious, but there is a lot that goes into being a good manager. I have learned that a good manager respects and listens to their employees and juggles a multitude of tasks, keeping the company’s goals and those of his or her department in mind at all times.

Jessica’s Reflection • Working on this project has taught me a lot about management. We are all unique and have to work to our strengths. It has taught me how to adapt to new situations and think more creatively within the professional setting and how to manage my time and work to get things done.

REFLECTIONS GROUP Group Reflection • We have learned to work in a group, showing us the importance of integration. A structure is vital to an organization’s success, in addition to understanding the values and personalities of others in the team. Thus, when we merge our strengths to overpower our weaknesses, we are able to tackle any unexpected situation that may arise, especially if we know the team’s fortes and faults.

Reengineering Reflection (What we could have done differently) • We found our work to have substantial quality, and our efficiency proved to be right on speed. However, rethinking on the process, we found that we could have taken a: • Personality test • Strength and weakness test at the beginning of the course. • We would have better understanding of our team before even starting, allocating our skills better for every task.

Remainder Reflection • Most importantly, we should have reminded every member that this is a management class, not a subordinate class. Therefore, we, every team member, have the responsibility to act as a leader instead of just a pawn on a chess game. • Sometimes there would be social loafing. Thus, even though communication through email can be slow it is a great tool to have evidence on “social loafers.” We should have used this strategy, of using email, since the first conflict to avoid frustrations.

RECOMMENDATIONS

We recommend other students to start brainstorming early and not to wait until the last minute. This is a fast pace class, and procrastinating would be your worst enemy.

Set a communication channel as soon as possible. We used announcements on canvas to announce new group assignments and discussions on canvas to accomplish several of the announcements. Remember, email (evidence) is a great tool against “social loafers.”

GoogleDocs came to be a great tool for this project. We used it to create the initial outlines of design challenges, presentations, and booklet. After the initial outline was done, we copy pasted the material to the respective tools: • Storyboardthat.com • Goanimante.com • PowerPoint

INSPIRATION Our imagination inspired us to create every character and episode’s story with an unique touch. However, we were mostly inspired by those managers who have position of power and are not leaders. Mr. Bossy represents that legitimate power.
