Academy for Clinical Excellence The mission of the Academy for Clinical Excellence is to provide evidence-based, innovative best practices, tools, and support as well as cultivate academic relationships to ensure well-educated, professional, clinically competent staff to provide exceptional care to our patients. The Academy for Clinical Excellence provides clinical education throughout St. David's HealthCare through a variety of classes aimed at professional growth and development. Most courses are free to St. David's HealthCare employees, with many approved for continuing education credit.

Leadership Academy St. David’s HealthCare is committed to becoming a world-class organization. Ultimately, a healthcare organization is defined by the strength of a single resource—its people. From providing the highest-quality care, to building and sustaining patient loyalty, to bolstering the bottom line, great people are a necessity for clinical and operational excellence. The key objective of the Leadership Academy is to provide directors, managers, supervisors and charge nurses (and other designated employees) with the tools and skills necessary to harness the best in their employees. Employees who are attending a hospital-related staff or educational event (e.g., staff meetings or education time) are still representatives of their profession and hospital, and professional dress is expected at all times, including attendance on the employee’s day off. Wearing unacceptable or unprofessional clothing to a hospital-related staff or educational event is considered a violation of policy and the employee will be sent home without pay. The employee’s director, manager or supervisor will be notified that the employee was sent home due to dress code violation. Professional dress includes designated scrubs assigned to your department and business casual attire. The following attire is not allowed at any time: flip-flops, athletic clothing, shorts, leggings, stretch or stirrup pants, sweat pants, baggy or low-cut pants, denim jeans or pants, denim shirts, denim skirts, extremely short, or low-cut, revealing, or see-through blouses/tops/dresses/skirts/shirts.
