On behalf of the Nashville Sports Council, we’re proud to celebrate over 30 years of shaping the future of our city through sports tourism. Since 1992, we’ve helped establish signature events like the TransPerfect Music City Bowl, the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series, and the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament as staples in Nashville’s ever-growing sports calendar.
This past year marked another exciting chapter in our growth. We successfully secured the bid to host the NCAA Division I FCS Football Championship at Vanderbilt University’s FirstBank Stadium in 2026 and 2027. We also announced the launch of the inaugural Sprouts Farmers Market Broadway Block Party, a premier women’s collegiate volleyball tripleheader set for August 2025 at Bridgestone Arena.
As the driving force behind sports in Nashville, we remain committed to positioning our city as a national epicenter for sports. Through impactful events and initiatives like our Young Professionals Network and Women in Sports Committee, we continue to find new and meaningful ways to engage the community and grow our reach.
The milestones outlined in this annual report would not be possible without the ongoing support of our members, partners, and dedicated volunteers. Thank you for being part of our journey. We look forward to continuing to lead and innovate in the years to come.

The Lexus Lounge at Bridgestone Arena was buzzing for the 2024 Cooper Steel Speakers Series: Predators Face-Off Luncheon. Members and guests enjoyed lunch while hearing directly from the Predators’ GM, Head Coach, and players about what to expect in the upcoming season. This annual event has become a true fan favorite— complete with the chance to watch practice, snap photos in the booth, and connect with fellow fans. Year after year, it’s a highlight on the Sports Council calendar and always leaves the room excited for the start of hockey season!

Founded in 1998, the Music City Bowl has transformed what was once one of the slowest tourism weekends into one of the busiest. Over the past 25+ years, the Bowl has generated more than $400 million in direct economic impact.
Since its debut in Nashville in 1984, the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament has established a lasting presence in the Music City. The annual event generates a direct economic impact of more than $20 million.
Did you know that over the past 30 years, Nashville has hosted over 200 events, including but not limited to:

For more than two decades, the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series has attracted tens of thousands of runners to Nashville’s streets each year. In classic Nashville style, bands line every mile marker to cheer on the runners, with a concert capping off the event.

The 2024 TransPerfect Music City Bowl at Nissan Stadium brought another thrilling chapter to Nashville on December 30, featuring the anticipated showdown between the Iowa Hawkeyes vs No. 19 Missouri Tigers, airing nationally on ESPN. In their first meeting since 2010, the Tigers mounted a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback to defeat the Hawkeyes 27-24 in front of over 43,000 fans.
Iowa struck early with a touchdown pass and a 100yard kickoff return from senior Kaden Wetjen, building a 21-14 lead at halftime. Missouri responded with poise behind quarterback Brady Cook, who threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns, including key connections to Theo Wease Jr. and Marquis Johnson. With the game tied late in the fourth, redshirt freshman kicker Blake Craig drilled a 56-yard field goal—his second from 50+ yards—to lift Missouri to its 10th win of the season.
The Tigers’ defense sealed the win with a crucial fourth-down stop in the final minutes, capping a backand-forth contest that lived up to the bowl’s tradition of exciting finishes and national attention.
Direct Economic Impact: $26.6 Million
Viewership: 2.8 Million

The SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament returned to Nashville in 2025, where it is set to remain through at least 2035, and delivered a record-breaking year both on and off the court. Held at Bridgestone Arena from March 12–16, the tournament welcomed 244,831 fans, marking the second-highest attendance in event history. This year’s tournament expanded to eight sessions and 15 total games following the SEC’s addition of Texas and Oklahoma, with Thursday evening drawing its highest attendance ever and Friday evening reaching its second-best turnout in the past decade.
Florida captured the championship with an 86–77 win over Tennessee, but the impact extended well beyond the court. The 2025 tournament generated $26.6 million in economic impact for Middle Tennessee—surpassing the previous record of $24.5 million set just the year prior. The Nashville Sports Council played a critical role in the tournament’s success by coordinating volunteers, supporting hospitality efforts, and assisting with event operations throughout the five-day stretch.
Viewership: 7 Million

The St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Nashville made a strong return this past April, with over 22,300 registered runners participating in various distances, including the One Mile, 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, a Doggie Dash, and a KiDS ROCK event. The marathon showcased all that Music City has to offer, with multiple stages along the course featuring live entertainment. The route began at 8th Ave. and Broadway, leading runners through the heart of Nashville and past iconic landmarks such as Lower Broadway, Music Row, the Gulch, and ending at Nissan Stadium. The Nashville Sports Council recruited 1,500 volunteers to make this event a success!
Direct Economic Impact: $47.3 Million

Over 1,500 Nashville Sports Council volunteers powered the 2025 St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series. Shown, one volunteer hands out cold water to runners as they cross the finish line.

The 2025 Nashville Sports Council Golf Tournament presented by Team Construction returned this June with a memorable day of competition and camaraderie at the exclusive, member-only Golf Club of Tennessee. Participants enjoyed a full day of competitive play, fun on-course activations, and a collection of standout gifts, including personalized leather flasks and bag tags from Clayton & Crume. The tournament champions saw the return of the event’s most coveted prize: The Champions Belt.
This year also welcomed the return of the silent auction, revamped to feature an exciting array of national sports memorabilia and exclusive experiences. Proceeds from the event support the Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee and the Nashville Sports Council’s mission to bring major sporting events to the Greater Nashville Area, generating economic growth and enhancing community life through sport.
A special thank you to Team Construction for their continued support in making this signature fundraising event a success year after year.

The Nashville Sports Council’s Women in Sports Initiative was created to increase awareness, engagement, and promotion of women in sports through yearround programming and community involvement. This initiative continues to elevate women’s athletics through dynamic content, intentional partnerships, and dedicated events.
In 2025, the initiative expanded its presence through several key moments, including serving as a sponsor of Lipscomb Volleyball’s Lippy Tournament, strengthening ties with local collegiate programs. The 6th Annual Nashville Tip-Off Breakfast, held at First Horizon Park, brought together coaches, players, and fans for a preseason celebration of women’s college basketball. The Council also proudly supported the inaugural season of AU Pro Women’s Basketball in Nashville, co-hosting the league’s welcome luncheon centered around National Girls & Women in Sports Day and additional launch activities. To further NGWSD initiatives, the Sports Council partnered with Vanderbilt Athletics to host an inspiring panel discussion focused on advancing opportunities for women in the industry.
Through these efforts and more, the Nashville Sports Council remains committed to advancing the Women in Sports Committee’s mission and driving meaningful progress for women in sports at every level.

The Young Professionals Network (YPN) was created to connect and engage recent graduates, emerging professionals, and sports enthusiasts across the Nashville area through unique networking events and career-building opportunities. YPN is designed for individuals eager to break into the sports industry, students and professionals seeking fun, meaningful experiences in sports and entertainment, and executives interested in connecting with the next generation of talent.
By joining the Young Professionals Network, members gain access to exclusive YPN and Nashville Sports Council events, opportunities to build their professional brand, and connections with local business leaders throughout the year.
A special thank you to our sponsors and community partners whose support helps make these experiences possible and empowers the next wave of Nashville’s sports and business professionals.

Moments like these showcase the energy and dedication of our volunteers, who help create unforgettable experiences for fans, players, and the community alike. In a city where the roar of the crowd and the rhythm of music blend seamlessly, Brady Ray stands out as a shining example of what it means to serve with heart. From the sidelines to the behind-the-scenes moments, Brady’s dedication to the Nashville Sports Council has earned him the title of 2024 Rick Regen Volunteer of the Year, a recognition that honors not just his time, but the passion he brings to every event.
Brady’s journey with the NSC began in 2018, as he was wrapping up his senior year at Trevecca Nazarene University. With a nudge from a coach and professor, he took a leap into volunteering, starting with the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament First and Second Rounds and it was the beginning of something bigger than he expected.
As a self-proclaimed college sports fanatic and die-hard Tennessee Volunteers fan, Brady found his sweet spot in volunteering at the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament, which quickly became his favorite event. “There isn’t anything like being a part of the best college basketball tournament in the best city in the country,” he says—and he means it. The buzz of the arena, the excitement in the air, and the chance to support something he loves made it more than just a volunteer gig, it was a front-row seat to something special. But for Brady, it’s not just about the games.
It’s about the camaraderie, the people who show up rain or shine, and the friendships built in the background of big moments. Among those friendships, Brady credits NSC staff for the kind of leadership and community spirit that makes NSC volunteering more meaningful.
When he’s not behind the scenes at a tournament, Brady is proudly supporting all of Tennessee’s teams; from the Titans, Predators, and Nashville SC to the Memphis Grizzlies and his beloved Atlanta Braves. Still, his heart beats loudest for the Tennessee Vols and his alma mater, the Trevecca Trojans.
Brady’s story is one of commitment, pride, and a genuine love for sports and community. In honoring him with the Rick Regen Volunteer of the Year Award, the Nashville Sports Council not only celebrates his service, but the spirit of volunteerism that fuels its mission.
The award is named after Rick Regen, a founding board member of the Sports Council whose nearly four-decade legacy shaped the landscape of Nashville sports. From helping bring the Tennessee Titans to town to championing the bid that landed the city its NHL franchise, Rick Regen’s impact still echoes today, carried forward by volunteers like Brady who continue to build on that foundation, one game, one smile, and one act of service at a time.

Brady Ray can be seen cleaning the court at the 2025 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament as a member of the 2025 Ball Crew. Ray volunteered at all 6 sessions of the 2025 Tournament.
The Felicia Carol Wilt Student Volunteer Scholarship honors the memory of a dedicated community member whose passion for sports and volunteerism left a lasting impact on Nashville. Felicia was a familiar face at countless local events—from the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament to the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series and the Music City Bowl. This scholarship celebrates her legacy by recognizing students who share her commitment to service and enthusiasm for supporting the sports community.
At the 2025 St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series, more than 1,500 Nashville Sports Council volunteers made the day possible by lending their time and energy across the course. Shown to the right, one of those volunteers, proudly hands out medals as runners completed their race—a simple act that carries great meaning for participants after months of training and dedication. It is a reminder that volunteers are at the heart of every successful event, creating moments of encouragement, recognition, and celebration for thousands of athletes.
That same dedication is what the Felicia Carol Wilt Student Volunteer Scholarship seeks to honor. Felicia was a familiar face at events across Nashville, always ready to pitch in and support the sports community she loved. Her legacy lives on through students who step into those same roles—welcoming participants, creating memorable experiences, and showing how powerful volunteerism can be.

Samahja Murry, a junior at Tennessee State University majoring in Exercise Science, has been named a 2025 Felicia Carol Wilt Student Volunteer Scholarship recipient. With a 4.0 GPA and a strong commitment to serving others, Samahja has made community involvement a priority throughout his college experience.
Originally from Memphis, he has given his time to a variety of causes, from leading exercise bingo sessions with senior citizens to preparing meals at the Nashville Rescue Mission and packaging diapers for families in need through the Nashville Diaper Connection. He is active with the Nashville Sports Council, having most recently volunteered with the 2025 St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series.
Samahja’s approach to service reflects the spirit of Felicia Carol Wilt’s legacy. He continues to use his time and talents to support others, while setting an example for how students can make a meaningful impact in their communities.
Andrea Macias, a junior Sports Management major at Trevecca Nazarene University, has been named a 2025 Felicia Carol Wilt Student Volunteer Scholarship recipient. A dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer, Andrea has shown a strong passion for sports and community engagement throughout her time in college.
Originally from Smyrna, she has contributed her time and energy to multiple events across Middle Tennessee. With the Nashville Sports Council, Andrea helped at both the 2025 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament and the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series; supporting operations like credential check-in, water distribution, and fan engagement activities. She also lent a hand at the Savannah Bananas “Banana Ball” event, assisting with merchandise and setup logistics over two days.
Andrea’s spirit of volunteerism and her eagerness to learn reflect the legacy of Felicia Carol Wilt. With a deep appreciation for the behind-the-scenes work that powers Nashville’s sports scene, she continues to grow through hands-on service, setting an example of commitment, curiosity, and heart.

Members of the Nashville Sports Council are the driving force behind the city’s thriving sports scene. As a nonprofit powered by its members, the Council relies on the consistent dedication and support of individuals and organizations who share a passion for sports in Music City. That support comes in many forms— from corporate partnerships and event sponsorships to individual memberships and program revenue— all of which make it possible to bring major sporting events to Nashville.
Joining the Sports Council means more than just backing local sports; it means becoming part of something bigger. Members enjoy exclusive benefits like early access to in-demand tickets, priority volunteer opportunities at marquee events, and invitations to special Sports Council gatherings. It’s more than a membership—it’s a front-row seat to the energy, excitement, and connection that define Nashville’s sports culture.
An attendee takes in the excitement at the 2024 Tip-Off Breakfast, where Middle Tennessee’s collegiate women’s basketball head coaches shared their outlook on the upcoming season. This free annual event gives Sports Council members the chance to kick off basketball season with meaningful connections, networking opportunities, interactive activations, and the always-popular panel discussion. It’s a memorable way to celebrate the start of the season alongside fellow fans and supporters.

“The Sports Council has been an integral part of Music City’s continued growth in the sports market. From the Music City Bowl, SEC Men’s Basketball Championship, St. Jude Rock’n’Roll Running Series and now adding the Sprouts Farmers Market Broadway Block Party for Women’s College Volleyball. Many events wouldn’t be possible without the Nashville Sports Council’s efforts, thank you!”
